Crosley 4in1 entertainment cd

The cd player used to just skip, but it has gotten progressively worse, and now will not play at all. I have tried using one of thos insertible cleaners, but the machine won't even work for that. It has never been damaged, and is about a year and a half old. Help

You are already use the insertible cleaners like CD/DVD it cleans while playing, actually that cleaners has a brush on it and it will wipe the dust from the lense but nothings happens it won't works.
The problem of your player is in "rail roller bars"the old grease there is hardened already due to accumulated dust, this is the most common problem, error in reading because the lense set assembly is jumping or cannot reach the microswitch button ,to switch on to play the player, that's why cannot play..
You better clean that rail roller bars by brushing, use old tooth brush and a lighter fluid or alcohol to take old grease. When finish cleaning the bars ,put a little amount of type -A grease. Rail roller bars is under the tray where moving assembly moving on it back and forth bringing the lense set. When brushing don't forget to cover the lens with little paper or plastic to protect the lens .Wipe the lens with cotton buds with very little amount of plain water after that then wipe it dry cotton buds ,try this solution ,so your player will work better again....

Hi,you will need to dismantle the unit to the point that you can get access to where the cd sits. with the lids off, eject the CD. Turn the power off, and use a cotton tip moistened with windex glass cleaner to gently clean the lens in circular motions. Then give it a ligtht polish with a dry one to clean any residue or smearing left behind. The replace the lid, fire it up again and it will work for you.

The insertible cleaners are not much good. Sometimes they even worsen the problem. I have always found direct cleaning of a laser lens it the only effective way to do it.

Just open the top cover of your unit .inside of that is a lens which is covered by some dust particles. just clean that with tissue.without moving any of the internal parts of the unit from its place or from its position.the cleaning cd connot clean the unit internally.you have to do it manualy.its very easy but take care you should do it very slowly, because hurry always makes worry.

feel free for the further assistance, rate the solution as fixya if helped by it. thank u in advance. best of luck to u.bye

I would suggest you to take out some time for the cd player, bring up you tools and open the box, locate the lense and try to clean it with a soft damp cloth and that is going to resolve your problem clean it very gently and don't apply force, any further question please post a message ill get back to you. It a very simple job which you can do it and that can save you buks.

All the best

An optics carriage is the assemble that the lens sits on. It's very expensive to get replaced.

Here is Crosley's support site. If it's covered under any warranty they may fix or replace it for you:

This may be intentional - just out of warranty. They do extensive testing to determine the fail point. Sad but true.

The answer would be to replace the optics carriage, as this is usually the part which produces this failure.
