I have a Toshiba Satellite running Vista and am having all kinds of trouble lately. I'm getting blue screens, trouble shutting down, 'Not Responding', etc errors. I use this laptop for both personal and work. It has been suggested that it is a Vista issue and either reloading Vista or upgrading to Windows 7 would likely take care of the problem....any suggestions?

As long as you are not having a hardware issue, windows 7 fixes alot of vistanogo's problems. i would recommend windows 7 professional for mixed home office use and 64 bit. if you are having alot of blue screens, i recommend trying to reload windows to factory settings. the 0(zero) key is the one you press and hold with eht battery out and connected to dc power to get to the restore partition. follow the prompts and reinstall. if this works reinstall all the updates for vista up to and to include service pack 2. then purchase windows 7(do not recommend pirated software because of the risk of viruses and errors). install the update to windows 7 option and repost on your findings.

Brand new Toshiba 15.6" Satellite C655-S5082 Intel

Sounds like a serious problem with the laptop. Since it's new, I would try to return or exchange the product at the store your bought it at to see if that rectifies the problem.

Without a task bar or icons, you won't be able to go to the recommended restore or recovery console options.

That's why I would recommend that you try to hurry up and get warranty replacement of the product before it's too late.

Good luck on getting a working laptop.

Hi.....I can't get my Toshiba Satelite M200 to shut down. The blue screen keeps stating shutting down but it goes on for hours. I am using Vista

Windows is so corrupted that it can't shut down properly. The only way to fix that is to save your data and reinstall. And be very careful what program you load after that because it was one of them that has corrupted Vista so load them one at a time with serious testing in between.

Shut down of laptop after blue screen appears

When you hit F12 or whatever F key to go to the boot drive menu, make sure the cd is in and that you select CD/DVD Drive and the dvd should prompt you to hit any key or will automatically start loading for the recovery. Just tell me if you need further assistance.

Toshiba Satellite A135 laptop

Try disconnecting power adapter and removing battery for two minutes. If the laptop still does not boot then there is an hardware problem. You can try taking out and putting back ram modules, but my suggestion is to take the laptop at a repair shop, if you cannot fix it by removing battery.
