My xbox wont play the disc once i close the tray. do u have any soloutions steve

Typically its a problem with the disc tray, a variety of solutions can be gently tapping on the top of the xbox immediately after the disc tray closes. Another suggestion is, and don't do this very often, but when the disc tray closes, immediately turn your xbox 90 degrees backwards so the Disc tray is facing up at the ceiling. If these fail, you may simply just have to play with the disc tray, grab it while closing, dont tug too much, slam it closed really fast. Microsoft really is **** when it comes to making things last, but these should work somewhat, you might just have to buy a new xbox if they don't ever work.

Inspect and clean your disc Take a close look at the bottom side of your game, movie, or music disc (the side without a label or image). Are there scratches? Excessive scratches or smudges can prevent your console from reading the disc. Clean your disc Hold the disc by the edges without touching the top or bottom surfaces. Using a soft, clean, slightly damp cloth, lightly wipe from the center of the disc outward.

· Note Use ONLY water to clean the disc.

· Once the disc is clean, load the disc into your console and see if the disc plays.

@paulhull58 when the disc tray closes push down firmly on the top of your xbox where the tray is. if not clean your disc.

1 i think the xbox cleans its own lens but check the manual if not get a good lens cleaner.

2 clean the disc always clean your discs after and before you use them.

3 take off your hard drive and any memory cards and reset xbox to factory settings

i have the same problem i called xbox and they said that it needs a new disk drive and it would be 100.00 so if you want it fixed youll nedd to call 18004myxbox and they will give you all the info on were to send it or for 100.00 more you can buy a new one like i did

Try putting the game in straight. By straight i mean putting the disc in where the xbox 360 logo at the top of the disc goes in the tray towards the xbox360. if that does not work contact microsoft

the drive switch is broken try to buy a new one and then it should work coz my dad works in the computer part

Getting to the dashboard screen is a good thing but still cannot rule out a bad circuit board or power supply. All the symptoms point to a bad DVD drive but the opening/closing by itself do indicate a problem with the microprocessor. Can you turn the power on and off with the small button?? If not, would definitely suspect bad board.
