I need to replace a hot water tank faucet in the kitchen. The tubing inside is bigger than the over the counter faucets I've found. Can a plumber just change the tubing for me? Will it be easy, quick and fairly inexpensive??

I work at a major hardware store in the plumbing deparment(Not the Orange one the other one). =) What you will need is a barbed fitting that will go from your size tubing to the new faucet's size. A barbed fitting is a fitting(hah) that slips inside the tubing to join one to the other. In your case, you'll get a fitting that fits inside yours and the other part of the fitting will fit a bigger hose. That hose will fit onto your new faucet. I'm guessing your hose is a 1/4 inch and you need to go to a 1/8, or 3/8 to a 1/4. These are standard from what I remember. Look below and PLEASE don't call a plumber.I need to replace a hot water tank faucet in the - beung.jpg Hope this helps

The hot water will not come out of myTuscany® Jensen™ One-Handle Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet

I'll assume you have hot water flow to other faucets in the house, hot water to this faucet worked previously, and cold water flows at this faucet<?>. I'll further assume you haven't experienced sub-zero temperatures.

Then;
Check supply shut off (under sink) is open. Hot supply is "usually" to your left and cold is to your right. Twist valve CCW to open.

If there are no other shut off valves between this faucet and the hot water tank, then likely there's a blockage. It could be blocked anywhere between the hot water tank, up to the inside of the kitchen faucet valve. Most likely inside the kitchen valve, as it has the smallest passageways.

The faucet is frozen in place...it cannot be moved over the sink. Plumber couldn't budge it. Plumber put a hold in the plastic bottle which holds the soap for the dispenser. I can't find another...

Hopefully, you didn't pay the plumber! Unfortunately I am not a big fan of the Harnat faucets, because they grind themselves up inside because they don't use washers in the right places. And finding a replacement part for someone that doesn't do it for a living, is hard to but it mildly!

In my professional opinion, I would recommend replacement of the entire faucet, versus trying to repair it. They are relatively easy to replace with minimal tools

This does go against my normal recommendations, since I like to keep things running as long as possible, but repairing your faucet will be a bigger pain that replacing it, and not that much more expensive - just get a better brand next time.

Hot water side slower pressure than cold side on one handle kitchen faucet

If problem is isolated to one faucet, then clog is located near that faucet.
I have same problem on one faucet when sediment and dirt collects at shut-off valve for some reason.

Problem can be at shut off or at supply tube or at faucet ... or all 3.

Repairs get things kind of wet so get out bucket and towels.
Take apart center mixing valve on faucet and turn water on to see if problem flushes out.
Disconnect hot side supply tube at faucet. Turn water on and see if that flushes problem out.
Remove shut off valve and turn water on to see if that flushes problem.
Replace shut-off valve.
Next place to look is elbow inside wall.

Depending on what brand of faucet you have you may need to replace the cartridge, moen and clones, or stem/cartridge on delta and similar. I would not replace the faucet until I was sure that you had hot water to the kitchen faucet and the faucet was going to cost more to repair then replace.
If you have supply valves for kitchen faucet I would shut them off and try to take faucet apart to determine where the hot water is stopping. Do not try to force things to much or you may make the faucet totally useless.
If you know what name brand your faucet is you can find several sites on u-tube that show good repair procedures.
I hope this helps you. Thank you.

No water coming from hot valve on faucets

Have you thought about possible calcium buildup in your hot water tank/pipes? I am helping a friend in Palm Springs CA (California not Canada) and we are going to pour a really huge pile of vinegar into the hot water tank (let it sit for a day) then open up the hot water taps to the kitchen (where we don't have hot water flowing very well), then going to let everything sit for another day. Remove the aerator from the kitchen faucet after letting the vinegar/water solution sit in the pipes for a day, and turn on the kitchen hot water tap. Once all the **** is drained out, you must of course drain out the vinegar/water solution from your hot water tank or you will smell like French Fries (in Canada we put vinegar on French Fries) when you shower for a few days.

If you don't understand what the basic chemistry of dissolving calcium via this method is all about, then please call a professional plumber. Hope this helps, and remember that Google is your friend (sometimes), but be careful...

Faucet installed 9/94 and still looks like new. But in past few days have begun seeing slow drip running down from one of the inner metal flexible hoses when faucet is on and for maybe 5-10 min after water...

Try tighten the hoses, if this don't work the seal in hose connectors may need replaced, very simple and cheap to replace. over time the hot water will wear down the seal it will go bad with pressure and water period. It's a good thing to change these all while you are there.

Kitchen spout leaks

Hi buffy9,

I'm Harvet the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You have an American Standard two faucet in my kitchen and the base of the spout leaks at the base. How do you remove it and replace the washers?

Are we talking about an American Standard two HANDLE faucet or one of the single handle models?

Thank you,
Harvey your Master Plumber
