SOURCE: changed out blower motor on elect furnace.the old

hmmm . you better check on that before firing it up ... normally the colored wires are for different speeds .. only one speed can be connected at a time .. usually the high speed winding is used for air conditioning and a lower speed winding is selected by a relay for heating .. ... the way the capacitor is hooked up determines which way the motor will turn .. your old motor with just 3 wires was probably a single speed motor .. normally the black wire will be connected permanantly to one phase .. the other phase then goes to the selected speed winding (color of wire) .. one goes to the starting capacitor . the others even if not connected will be hot electrically so need wire nuts to prevent shorts ..

How to reverse rotation on type k4120 3 phase motor?

hello

make note of positions of wires and colors before moving and wires so can be put back if need to

in general 3 phase motors can be reversed by reversing only one of the phases that come in

as far as i know forward rotation sequence would be red, yellow, blue , (these are the 3 phase wires and could also have a black wire nuetral if the motor is a unbalanced load motor

but think that phase color blue is now white according to electricity regs for 3 phase motors

if the motor is a balanced load motor it may not have a black wire
.
(the function of the nuetral conductor is to to carry the out of balance current if the loads on each of the 3 phases is diffenent ) and of course has a earth wire as well ( which is yellow/ green )

you should reverse either red and yellow position only or yellow and white position only

but if in doubt check with your local electrcian to confirm
always check electrcity regs before altering

cheers

I have a Cummins 1/2 hrs.bench grinder in pieces. 3 wires from the inside - Black, red, and blue. A capacitor with two male connectors on the end and a switch. How does it need to be wired?

The capacitor goes across the Line, terminals, of the Motor, The Black, should Be Neutral, the RED should be Power IN to the Switch, and the Blue, the "Other" side of the switch. The Capacitor, sometimes goes on the Spare (If any) Terminals of the "Cold" side of the Power Switch.
International color code is Red Positive or Phase, Blue, Phase or Positive, Black, usually Neutral, Negative .
The capacitor is a Suppression" capacitor, and is usually "Across the Motor terminals on "Cold" or "Switched" side of the circuit.
The circuit is simple, Neutral is "Common" the Power comes in to the Switch Contact, whereby the activation of said switch, joins the "Contacts" to the Phase. Positive, Wire to the "Motor". The "Other Terminal Wire from the Motor, goes to Common. The capacitor. Is installed in Parallel with the Phase and Neutral on the "Cold" or normally unpowered side of the circuit.

red, white, and black will be your high voltage. Green will probably be for ground and yellow and orange go to the thermostat. I can confirm on Monday when I have access to manuals.
