  • Anonymous Jun 16, 2008

If you think the unit is not prerforming as it should,
Check your warranty information.

If you are still covered under warranty (usually 12 months from purchase), contact the manufacturers (listed in the booklet), and return the unit according to their policy.

You should not be charged for repairs/ replacement, but could be billed for postage.
Make sure you use recorded/ signed for delivery to prevent loss /damage issues.

I hope this resolves the problem
Thanks,

You first check what kinda of media you are using. Is it a +or- dvd-r. Your problem most likely is in the fact that the unit you are using only likes specific disk's. make sure its a 8x dvd+r.

  • Anonymous Jun 16, 2008

also if by format you mean erase everything off a previously recorded dvd. Thats not how a dvd-R works, Thats how dvd-RW works. If the dvd has already been burned onto once then it can no longer be burned onto. Unless it is a multi-session but that is not the case here.

  • Anonymous Jun 16, 2008

So what id like you to do so i can help solve your problem. Is get a brand new DVD+R and try to record to it. If it fully records the unit is fine. Which means you just need to go DVD+RW disks from your local computer store. Those are the type of media which your recorder will be able to format. Note* that they only should need to be formatted after having data "Burned" onto the DVD+RW. Let me know how the dvd test burn goes. So i can further assist you with your problem

    Thanks
    Nathan

    do you still need assistance?

  • Anonymous Jun 16, 2008

have you tried everything that i see me and leethedeuce said. definetly try another brand dvd. Maybe even a lens cleaner to clean the lens.

It is not recognizing DVD-R's and does not formatting it ?

happening on any-brand DVD-R's ?

    Manual says : Recordable Media : DVD+R · DVD+RW

  • monk3ybidzness
    monk3ybidzness Jun 16, 2008

Since already spent time and money on different DVD's (check if one of them disc's is 8x just to be sure) and the unit is NOT reading the media (as it supposed to)

If it is still in warranty, Service or Return or Replacement from the manufacturer.

First try a different brand DVD-R as that is a common issue as not all rewritable discs work in all burners.
Keep me posted as I will list some other common solutions to this problem,
Thanks,
Lee

As far as I know there is no reset. The unit most likely either dirty or broke. First try a DVD Lens cleanr. If that doesn't work either have it serviced or a better solution would be to just relace it if the unit is out of warranty.
    Thanks and good luck,
    Lee

marked, if you would have read or researched the item your suppose use DVD+R that are 8x.
    Good luck,
    Lee

How do i unfinalise a dvd on Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD Recorder

The answer is in the question, u cant unfinalize, finalizing ends the session, DVD-Rs need to be finalized so they can be watched, DVD-RWs can usually be watched with out finalizing, so can be wiped & used again or added to later, Rs can only be written to once RWs can be used again providing u dont finalize them.

What kind of blank DVDs do I use to copy an old VHS video tape to the DVD? I have the Sony RDR-VX530. When I put a DVD in, I get an Error message saying that I have the wrong DVD.

According to page 30 of the operation manual, the following information may help;

DISCS THAT CAN BE USED IN THIS RECORDER:

4x-speed or slower DVD+RWs
2x-speed or slower DVD-RWs (version 1.1, 1.1 with CPRM) (Content Protection for Recordable Media)
4x-speed or slower DVD-RWs (version 1.2, 1.2 with CPRM)
16x-speed or slower DVD+Rs
16x-speed or slower DVD-Rs (version 2.0, 2.0 with CPRM, version 2.1, 2.1 with CPRM)
2.4x-speed DVD+R DL (dual layer) discs
(when using DVD+R DL discs, see the instructions supplied with them prior to use)
4x-speed or slower DVD-R DL (dual layer) discs

DISCS THAT CANNOT BE RECORDED ON:

DVD-RWs (version 1.0)
DVD+RWs that are not 2.4x-speed compatible
8 cm discs (mini-DVDs)
DVD-RAM (any speed/any version)
DVD-R DL (dual layer) discs in VR mode

A free pdf copy of the manual for this model can be downloaded online.

Hopefully that provides some insight to your question.

I have a yamaha dvd-c750. I have just created a slideshow using iphoto on a Mac, burnt to a TDK DVD +R. Inserted into the DVD drive. Machine tries to load it. Gives a message "unknown disc"? ...

DVD players can be picky with the type of file format that they use. According to an amazon.com review of this player, it does read DVD+RW/+Rs & DVD-RW/Rs so the problem probably resides in your file format.

The problem is probably the fact that the DVD Player does not recognize the file format of your Mac slide show. The computer recognizes this format, as it plays the slide show. The DVD player recognizes JPG file formats, which is the standard format of a picture.

If a DVD is made with JPG Files, not your slide show files, it will display thumbnails of each picture, allowing the choice of what picture to view.

If the slide show is a must, try to save it to a video file format, such as a *.mpg or *.avi which are common video file formats. These files would be movies of the slide show that you have made.

My front loader reads disc error or unplayable no matter what disc I insert. It worked just fine for about 2 years. It doesn ot get heavy cd use, but everyday radio/alarm use.

To resolve this issue, try one or all of the following:
  • The Wave® music system is designed to play commercial CDs, CD-Rs, MP3-encoded CDS and CD-RWs. If your system has trouble playing MP3 CDs, make sure the discs were recorded with compatible formats. See Cannot play MP3 CDs

  • The system may not be able to play certain CD-RW discs. Playability is dependant on how the disc was recorded, including the format it was recorded in and the actual disc used for recording.
Note: iTunes defaults to AAC as the encoding format. In order to use iTunes to make CDs that will play on the Wave® music system, you’ll need to change the format to MP3 How to Choose Import Options

  • Different brands of CD-Rs and CD-RWs use different materials which may affect the ability of a player to read them. If you are burning your own CD-Rs or CD-RWs, experiment with different brands of discs

  • If a commercial disc won’t play, check for scratches, fingerprints or other physical damage. Try the CD in another player. If it still won’t play, there may be a problem with the disc

  • Reset the system by disconnecting the power cord from the wall for one minute, then plug the system back in
