Why isn't my Iron heating up? Just finished filling my Krups V65 iron with water. Was ironing linen shirt on linen setting, all of a sudden, heat dropped all the way down to light one (very low heat) and stayed there. Tried later after iron cooled down and would not heat up past the first light. Had to go get another iron but would like to fix this one. Good iron otherwise but see many others have had the same problem at about the same age of the iron, approx. 2.5 years old. Iron all of a sudden while using it, the heat went off. Tried a different plug in case it was the outlet, but that isn't the problem.

I did the exact same thing.....hoping it was a bad outlet; but it wasn't. This was a really good iron when it was working. The iron was a little costly. I don't think I'll take my chances with Krups again.

Was working fine last time I used it (less that a week ago). Plugged it in today and nothing!

I do believe the thermostat is defective. All the iron have a small thermastat top control the temperature and is working like a switch. If the switch don`t work get stuck on the same position.Unfortunatly sometimes is better get a new one themn fix an old one but this is The Market and nothing i can do personally. Also make sure the thermostat knob is working properly. If you hear a click when you turn is ok.
Good Luck

Why is my linen dress shiny after ironing at the linen setting?

The fine fibres at the surface of linen stand up like the bristles on a brush. Light coming into the fibres gets trapped. When you iron the linen, you flatten the fine fibres. Incoming light no longer gets trapped in the spaces between the fibres and instead is reflected (bounced back) like on a mirror. That is why linen looks shiny after ironing. To prevent this, use a damp cloth on top of your linen when ironing. This will flatten (iron) the linen material but not compress the fine fibres. Good look.

you have to pull the cover in the arrow direction, disengaging in circled positions.
After that, pull out the upper rubber keys, you will see the screw below:

Water drips out of steam holes

I suspect that by placing it on its heel rest the water from the tank is not allowed to enter into the steam chamber and when you go into ironing mode there is a rush of water that is cooling down the sole plate to below steaming temperature. Try keeping it in the horizontal position on a heat proof pad and press the steam button just before going into ironing mode.

Cleaning a self cleaning iron

Fill the Iron with water but keep the water level below the max line. Plug in the iron and set the temp to 6 and stand iron on it's heel and allow to heat for 3 mins. Now unplug the iron and take it to a sink move and Hold the variable steam dial in the CLEAN position. There may be some hissing and spitting while cleaning so be careful. Continue to hold the dial in the clean position until all the water has emptied. If necessary rock side to side and back to front to get all the water out. When finished release the steam dial plug in the iron and heat for about 2 mins to dry out the remaining water and unplug.
