Connect it to a different computer. If it still is not detected, then there is a hardware problem. Exercise the warranty to get it repaired/replaced.

My WD elements 1.3 TB external hardisk. It gives a buzz when connected and is not recognised by windows

It sounds like the HDD inside is dead. The USB interface may have an issue but usually clicking or buzzing is HDD failure. If you have a desktop you can try removing the hard drive from the external case and connecting it directly to the computer using a SATA cable.

How do I find a repair person for a LaCie 1 TB external drive?

it may be a bad drive and depending what is on it it would be very evpensive to fix. you can remove the drive from the case and plug it in another computer with a spare sata slot and try it. if it wont spin up it is bad. only three definits in life: death, taxes and hard drive crashes. sorry hope that it will work on anothe computer.

My LaCie one terabyte external hard drive does not seem to be functioning. The blue light on the front of the drive is glowing however it's not making any noise. When I unplugged it and plugged it bac

The first word that comes to mind when you describe what you are hearing is OUCH! That hard drive has failed on you. The buzz and clicks are caused by a logic problem within the drive. The hard drive is trying to find a certain location on the drive and is operating the read-write head arm assembly starting at the outside and continuing to move it inward (buzzing) until it reaches the end (clicking) and then it resets (more buzzing) and starts the process over again. Any data that you have on that drive is gone unless you want to send the drive into a data recovery lab such as Ontrack (found at Kroll Ontrack recognized leader in legal technologies and data recovery... ). Be aware that such services typically cost around $1000. In any case, it's time to buy a new external hard drive. In my professional experience, I have found that Seagate hard drives are the most reliable, so I would definitely suggest you look at one of theirs.

Having said that, be aware that any hard drive will be prone to failure if you take it with you from place to place regularly, so I would recommend that if you intend to do that, replace the drive every year or so just to play it safe and not run as much risk of losing important data.

I hope this helps. Let me know if I can provide any further assistance.

OS whont start whit WD 1 TB external drive.

You need to set your boot sequence in the BIOS so that it does not include external drives. Basically your computer is trying to load Windows from the external drive instead of its own internal one.

Your motherboard manual is going to help, if you can't manage it by yourself give me a link to your manual or tell me the model of your motherboard and i will show you what you need to change.
