HI

if its stock, the only thing that you can do is to dismantle the parts so that you can access the tanks, if its still within the warranty might as well call canon support for a replacement or service. resetting will not actually resolve this, honestly this is a hardware issue already, but if you want to take the chance you can open it up. but if within warranty dont open it this might void the warranty status of your printer.

My canon pixma ip1300 is showing service error 5100, not printing and yellow light blinks five times thanks in advance..........

Solution: Install the print head and ink tanks correctly iP3000 / i560

Seat the print head Below is the procedure for seating the print head and ink tanks:
  1. Power on the printer.

  2. Open the paper output tray and top cover.

Note: Gently open the paper output tray while holding it.

  3. After confirming that the print head holder has moved to the center, open the inner cover.

  4. Remove the orange tape securing the print head lock lever, and raise the print head lock lever.

Note: If the top cover is left open for more than 10 minutes, the print head holder will move to the right. If this occurs, close the top cover once and then re-open it.

  5. Remove the print head from its package and remove the orange protective cap.

Note: To avoid any damage, do not touch the print head face's nozzle area, electrical contacts, and ink supply filters. After removing the protective cap, set the print head into the print head holder immediately. Do not re-attach the protective cap after it has been removed.

  6. Set the print head into the print head holder, and lower the print head lock lever until a click sound is made.

    ip3000_printhead_install.gif

    Next, install the ink tanks.

  7. Remove the cyan ink tank (BCI-6C) from its package. Pull the orange tape in the direction of the arrow to remove the wrap film completely.

Note: Remove the orange tape completely. If the orange tape is not completely removed, it may interfere with printing.

  8. Hold the ink tank as shown in the image below. Twist the orange protective cap in the direction of the arrow, and remove it.

Note: Remove the protective cap while holding it, so that fingers will not be stained by the ink.

  9. Insert the ink tank into the slot at the right end, and push down on the PUSH mark on top of the ink tank until a click sound is made. Install the other ink tanks in the same manner.

I need an immediate solution my printer is telling me error code 5100

If it is a user fixable problem, it will either be a paper jam or the ink cartridges are not seated correctly. For instructions to clear each error go to

Where do i change the ink on my canon mp830 pixma?

Hello paulphipps1,

That printer the ink is housed underneath the top portion of the printer. To open the top, reach down under the buttons or display area,, and left up, a blue plastic piece will slide out and lock the top into place. Once that up, look inside and the ink cartridges will eventually slide over to the left side of the printer. Look left towards the silver bar and you'll see two plastic holders for the ink. Take the ink cartridge out, by pushing down on the top edge of the cartridge, then out. To replace them, remember to remove the protective seal on the ink cartridge and put the ink cartridge in by holding the ink cartridge at an angle that has the copper control slip pointing upwards. Make sure you put it in below the top ridge of the plastic holders. Then once you slip the cartridge into the holder at the upwards angle, pull up again on the cartridge to snap it into place. That's it your cartridges are reset with new ink.

Good Luck
and don't forget to leave a rating based on my solution.

Cannon MP830 Printer cartridge jam

So you cant get the ink tanks in place properly?

Have you tried this method to ensure they're properly seated? Is the printer on or off when you try to seat the tanks?

Refer to the following steps to verify the ink tanks are seated correctly:
  1. Confirm that the printer is powered on and press the Open button. (The paper output tray will open.)

    mp800_openbutton.gif

  2. Lift the scanning unit (printer cover) completely. (The print head will move to the replacement position.)

  3. Open the inner cover.

    CAUTION:
    a. Do not try to manually move or stop the Print Head Holder.
    b. Do not touch any metal parts.

  4. Press down on the ink tank until a click is heard, thereby making sure the ink tank is seated properly.

    Note:
Make sure that the ink tank is inserted in the slot that corresponds to the ink tank's color.

  5. Ensure that all the ink tanks are installed properly and the ink tank lamps light red.

    Note:
    Ink Tank Lamp
You can check the status of each ink tank according to the way its lamp flashes.
    • - On: The printer is ready to print.
    • - Slow flashing (at about three second interval): Ink is low. Prepare a new ink tank.
    • - Fast flashing (at about one second interval): Ink tank is empty, or the printer is not ready due to an error.
    • - Off: An error has occurred and the printer is not ready to print.
  6. Close the inner cover and the scanning unit (printer cover).

    Note:
    1. When closing the scanning unit (printer cover), be careful not to jam your finger.
    2. When starting printing next time, the print head cleaning launches automatically.
