Emergency brake light won't go off. Now leaking fluid underneath. After driving a short distance, front fluid resevoir is almost empty...large back resevoir is low . Leaking out on the ground. Front discs/pads and rear drums/shoes are good. Could it be a broken or leaky brake line?

98 Dodg3 Durango emer brake is released, red light is on &when put in gear it's as driving with emer brakes on recently serp belt changed trans belts adjustd..transfercase have anything to do with it

The red brake light also means there is a problem with regular brakes , not just for emergency or parking brake . This light if on an emergency brake is released you have front disc brake problems or you have a brake fluid leak an the master cylinder is empty ! The transfer case has nothing to do with the brakes ! Have a qualified repair shop check it !

My brake light and battery light stays on when driving. Also emergency brake does not work.

OK, the brake light is caused most likely by the emergency brake cable being broken, and the pedal or brake lever is not in position.

Also, the brake light could be caused by low brake fluid level. Check that, too.

Battery light, is caused by the charging system not working, like a bad alternator or shorted out battery, or both.

I would have these issues repaired before driving any distance.

My hand break light stays on while driving. Is this a warning light or is there just faulty lighting?? Thanks

If you have done about 30+k Miles , you may need brake pads.Examine for leaks, Check brake fluid resevoir (yellow cap usually) for fluid level. Do not top up if no leaks are present. It may just be the early brake pad wear indicator telling you it's time to replace the pads. Removal of the front wheels and inspect the brake pad condition for wear. Good luck If pads are worn, topping up fluid will put out the light BUT not solve the wear problem so inspect first.

There is a warning light that comes on with an exclamation point and the word brake underneath it. what does this mean?

Do you perhaps have the emergency brake partly on??? and have you checked the brake fluid level located under the engine hood located in drivers side closet to windshield.Beware if fluid is empty you will have a brake system leak some place with in your brake system hope this helps

96 Chevy Cavalier brake pedal to the floor

First check your brake fluid.
Either you have a failing brake booster, or you have developed a leak in one of your brake lines. If your brake line is leaking, it should be pretty evident, i.e. oily looking substance sprayed underneath the vehicle or in the wheel wells, if the booster is leaking (the large black/silver almost bowl shaped thing directly in front of the driver under the hood against the back wall) there will most likely be fluid dripping down the firewall below it, if your brake fluid is extremely low/empty, you probably have a leak, that could be at the booster or on a line, or even at the caliper/drum. If it is empty (which can make your ABS light, light up) then you have yourself a leak. Also, if the fluid is really low, you could try adding some, although you will have air in the lines if it was low enough to floor the brake, but you might be able to find the leak if you refill the fluid and cause it to spray from the leak again. Have someone watch under the vehicle while you do this.

I have a 2001 Acura Integra, the maintenance requested light is on and the e-brake light doesn't seem to turn off, but there seems to be no driving difficulty. 1. What needs to be done to fix this? 2. Do...

The process of turning off the maintenance requested light is a little different for each Acura/Honda Its usually in the owners manual. It involves holding the trip meter button on the gauge cluster and then turning the ignition half way on for a certain amount of time. To get rid of the e-brake light its probably the sensor underneath the center console. You just need to remove the center console to gain access to the switch. Then play around with the switch a little bit until you figure out why its staying on. While your in their looking at the switch you might as well adjust your ebrake by tightening the screw thats inline with the cord to the rear brakes.

97 Altima dashboard brake light stays on

Check your brake fluid level in the engine compartment. Its located on the rear RH side of the engine compartment, its a white/clear resevoir connecting to a large black circular object. If the fluid is low, fill to proper level, also I would recommend having your brake system checked as there may be a leak. If the fluid is fine and at the proper level, you may have a damaged/broken brake fluid level sensor or damaged/broken Emergency brake switch. Hopefully this helps....please rate thanks!!

Emergency brake light is on all the time without the brake beign on what do I need to do? on my 2005 chevy equinox

check your fluid level on the master brake cylinder resevoir(RH side to the rear of the engine compartment mounted to a large circular metal). When the fluid is low, this light will remain on. If the levels are fine, might be a possible damaged Ebrake switch or air in the system. Hopefully this helps

Brake light came on & brakes airy & to floor. replaced a broken brake line & have bled front /back brakes several times & brakelight still on/brakes not good

Check the float that is in your brake fluid resevoir, usually the brake light comes on when the fluid is low or the float is stuck down. Also your brake light might be tied in with your emergency brake hand or foot pedal whichever kind you have. Check this switch also. I hope this helps
