For the last month my Dell insiron 1721 which was purchased two years ago has been moving extra slow and it freezes up for 5 to 30 seconds about every 30 to 60 seconds.

try to clean with a special lens cleaner.

First, try and take out the battery and start the computer with just the power adapter. If the power adapter is still blinking, replace the power adapter. If the computer turns on with just the power adapter, replace the battery.

If the battery status light rapidly flashes amber, the battery may be defective. Purchase a replacement battery from Dell.

If the power supply status light flashes, the power supply may be defective. Purchase a replacement power supply.

If you purchased it new, you should be able to get the keyboard replaced under warranty. Dell's come with a minimum 1-year warranty. Give them a call and tell them the issue with the spacebar.

Model # would help!. The symtoms relating could be of a # of issues depending on the design (model #). Cold control, defrost issues, non or slow moving evaporator fan, slight pressue loss (undercharge), partial restriction, extra ambiant heat.

You have a resistor array assembly going out. What you described is typical of the first resistor going out and over loading the second, which goes out and overloads the third. Replace the HVAC resistor array. Don't buy a used one. Spend the extra money on the new OEM dealer item. Good luck to you.

The Inspiron 1720 &1721 series was released more than a year ago and is no longer available new, only refurbished. The comparbable machines currently on the market is the Inspiron 1525 & 1526 series. The 1525 &1526 series are comparable in price and specs, and the specs are a little better as far as graphics and sound cards. The 1730 series is still available, but it has a price of approx $2500. if the clearing of cache didn't work, try to check the format of the time and date if its correct and try to detached the hard drive. use the console without the hard drive. if the console works and didn't experience any freezing on the screen. its the hard drive that has a problem. if its purchased with the console it has a 1 year warranty, but if purchased seperately it has a 90-days period of warranty. so use it =)
