Question about Technics SL-1200MK2 Turntable
I replaced the servo belt under the tonarm and the tonarm does not come anymore to the end of the LP; it plays the LP normally but stops in the middle of the LP and stays there continuing skipping the same track...if I lift the tonarm with my hand and move it towards the centre of the LP from that point it starts skipping, I feel that the ton arm does not move freely anymore, it has a friction somewhere inside that does not let it move normally to the end of the LP. I need some help from sombody who knows this problem.Thank you. Please sned the answer at: email@example.com
Your tonearm is damaged. More than likely the bearings on the tonearm have been damaged. Unfortunately, there is no easy fix for this. You'll have to have the tonearm replaced, however, parts for the SL1600MK2 have been discontinued. The tonearm for the SL1200MK2 might fit it, but you will need to do some retro-fitting in order to make it work properly. Something only a qualified service center could perform.
Hope this helps some.
