My dryer turns with no heat. I also dont feel any air from the exhaust vent. Ive heard that it could be a fuse or the breaker. Where are the fuses located? How do i reset the breaker on the dryer?

I have a kenmore dryer 80 series it only makes a lite sound when I push the start button. I won't come on. The power is good.

The Kenmore 80 Series of dryers are consumer grade dryers for home use. As with most home appliances, the Kenmore 80 series dryers will occasionally not work as intended. If a problem occurs with your dryer, however, you do not necessarily need it serviced by a technician. You can attempt to troubleshoot and fix any problems with your dryer before contacting a technician.

  1. Kenmore 80 Series dryers may not run for several reasons. First, make sure that the power cord is plugged into a working power outlet. You may need to plug a different device into the outlet to check that it is receiving power. If the second device does not run on the power outlet, you may have blown a fuse or tripped a circuit breaker. Check your fuse box or circuit breaker box and make the change as needed.
Next, make sure that the dryer door is fully shut. The dryer will not run with the door ajar.
Finally, check that the "Start" button was fully pressed and that a cycle was chosen on the machine. If you do not choose a cycle for the dryer, it will not run.
  2. If your Kenmore 80 Series dryer does not heat up during use, check that a heat cycle has been chosen for the load. There are several different dryer cycles you can choose, some of which do not use heat. Make sure that you have chosen a heated cycle.
As above, check that you have not blown a fuse or tripped a circuit breaker. The dryer may use more than one fuse or breaker: one is used to power the drum, and the other for the heating element. Make sure that both fuses or breakers are in working order.
  3. There may be times when Kenmore Series 80 dryers do not fully dry your clothes. When this occurs, check the lint screen and clear out any lint. The air may not flow as well if the lint screen is clogged.
Next, check to see if the exhaust vent is clogged. Lint and other particles may clog the exhaust vent over time, restricting air flow and making it more difficult to dry your clothes. To check the vent, run the dryer and hold your hand under the vent. If you do not feel any air flow, clean or replace the vent.
If you used cold water to rinse the clothes it may take longer than normal to dry. The same is true if the load of laundry is very wet or is filled with items that are very absorbent.
Finally, check the load size. The more clothes in the load the longer it will take to dry. If you want to reduce drying time, separate the clothes into piles of light and heavy items and dry them separately.
  4. please comment on these solution by saying how helpful.

My Kenmore HE5 dryer will not run without blowing an internal fuse. The repairman replaced the fuse, and it blew again. The dryer heats up but will not turn it's heating element off until the fuse blows....

Has any one checked the exhaust vent, other than a bad thermostat the number one cause for the thermal fuse to open is a clogged or restricted exhaust vent flow, the entire vent system needs to be checked ( not just the hose from the unit to the wall) for proper air flow. Turn the unit on TIMED ,AIR DRY (NO HEAT) and go outside to the exhaust vent and check the air flow,if there is any question as to weather the air flow is sufishent get someone out to clean the exhaust vent ,it always a good idea to clean out every few years regardless to help prevent build up of lint witch could cause a fire......Hope this Helps Good Luck

Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable. On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it.

Dryer will not heat up

hello. If your dryer doesn't heat, check these: Power from the house Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected. Heating element Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable. Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.) Wiring A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Whirlpool dryer not heating up

first you need to check your breakers or fuses in your home's breaker box, try turning the breakers off then back on again (if you have fuses ,check them or replace them). If everything is ok there then you need to access the heating element(with the power off) test to see if you have continuity in the element then the high limit& the thermal cut-off. Sometimes dryers seem like they are not heating when the dryer vent is kinked or clogged. This is the number one thing that I find when servicing dryers. Usually when the vent is clogged or kinked I correct that problem first, then continue with the other things . you can quickly check that by unhooking the vent and run a partial load just to see if that works. while the vent is unhooked you can start the dryer and feel the air coming out of the vent of the dryer to see if you are getting heat. You can check that without having clothes in it. let me know. Thanks

Whirlpool model # lgr7646ez3

Here are a list of causes that may contribute to this lack of sufficient drying.

CAUSE
• Lint screen is clogged with lint.
• Restricted air movement.
Exhaust vent or outside
exhaust hood is clogged with
lint.
• Exhaust vent is crushed or
kinked.
• One fuse is blown or circuit
breaker is tripped. The dryer
will appear to operate, but you
will not get any heat.
• Cycle Control knob or temperature
selector is set on air dry.
• Load not contacting the sensor
strips and automatic cycle
ending early.
• Fabric softener sheets blocking
exhaust grill.
• Dryer located in room with
temperature below 45ºF (7ºC).
• Large amount of moisture in
the load.
• Cold rinse water used.
• Load too large and bulky to
dry quickly.

Here are the solutions to combat the issues.

SOLUTION
• Clean lint screen.
• Run dryer for 5-10 minutes. Hold hand under
outside exhaust hood to check air movement. If you
do not feel air moving, clean exhaust system of lint
or replace exhaust vent with heavy metal or flexible
metal vent.
• Replace with heavy metal or flexible metal vent

• Replace fuse or reset breaker.
• Select the right cycle and temperature for the types
of garments being dried.
• Level dryer.
• Use only one softener sheet per load and only use
it once.
• Move dryer to a location with temperatures above
45ºF (7ºC).
• Expect longer dry times with items that hold more
moisture (cottons).
• Expect longer dry times.
• Separate load to tumble freely.

This will help you fix this problem. i suspect an exhaust obstruction.

Twin thin dryer

I believe that it is the thermostat that is bad if it will not heat. It is the piece that supplys electrical heat to the heat coils. 696818 is the whirlpool part number for the thermostat on my stackable unit and it can be purchased online for 10-15 bucks.

No heat

The most common cause of no heat to an otherwise functioning dryer is failure of the thermal cutout.
As well as the electric line fuses in the circuit there are devices that look like this 13889aa.jpg or this 284f4e0.jpg screwed to the exhaust air duct with wires to the terminals
, inside the dryer. If there is a lint blockage in the duct or fan or outside vent hood, the air tempoerature rises and melts out this thermal cutout (also thermal fuse, heat protector, heat cutout & any other names different makers use) before causing a fire.
Test with an ohmmeter or battery and lamp bulb, conducts good, no conducts fail-replace.
Despite the number of models of dryer there are only a few thermal fuses, and the local parts guy WILL have the blown one on the shelf, as GE if not as roper part.

Whil the dryer case is opened is a good time to vacuum out the exhaust vents, fan impeller, and vent hood. ounce of prevention and all that
