I took the bobbin area of my Singer Stylist Sewing Machine 533 apart to clean it, had an interrupting phone call and went back to the machine and couldn't remember how the parts go back. Please help me if you can! Thanks!

If you do not have your manual, you can download one for $10 at www.sewingmanuals.com and it is safe because they use paypal. Normally manuals have all the directions for cleaning and diagrams of how things should go. I had to resort to getting one for an old machine and I felt it was worth it. Singer charges $15 for a hard copy of your manual. Good luck, wish I could be more help.

Sometimes you do not get the answer you want but I doubt that someone can help you without seeing the machine. I do not answer questions for money, I just do it to try and help. So your one thumb up is not going to hurt me. You need a copy of your manual, bottom line.

I have a Singer 7258 (Stylist). I took it apart to adjust the timing, and now the feed dogs do not seem to be engaging. This machine does not have adjustable feed dogs. Any idea how to fix?

It is important to know how to time a sewing machine so I hope you did this part right. Anyway, the feed dogs aren't engaging gives me an indication that you have set it up for "rewind bobbin". Set your machine up for sew, not rewind.

Singer stylist E2 error code bobbin winding

I have just repaired a 7258 with a frozen bearing unrelated to the E2 code except that I thought I would lube the entire machine while it was apart, and through my ignorance, I greased the clutch that releases the mainshaft when winding the bobbin, and then when the clutch wasn't working correctly, caused the E2 error. I can say the E2 error is not caused by a plug not seated correctly, too much tension in the bobbin thread, or God having a bad day. The E2 error code is thrown when the bobbin holder is in the wind position, and the mainshaft rotates. There is a clutch just behind the hand knob on the right side of the machine, and if it has too much lubrication with a stiff grease, or on an older machine, if the lube has dried out, the clutch will not release properly. I took the clutch apart, cleaned the grease I put in it, and then lubed it with bicycle silicone oil. It now works as designed. The hardest part of the repair was figuring out how the plastic cases split apart! If anyone in the SF Bay Area has a 7256, or 7258 that gives the E2 code, I can fix it - it's actually kind 'a fun...
