The only way to fix this is (A) go to a junkyard and get a used steering column and then have the key and pass code reprogrammed (B) go to the dealer ship and see if reprogramming the pass key will allow this to work. sometimes if the battery goes dead the pass key will not reconize the correct key for this car

CAR IN CANADA OR USA?, THE LOCK RULES ARE NOT THE SAME IN CANADA FOR SURE KEY PROGRAMMING.
LOST THE 2ND KEY THAT CAME WITH CAR NEW?

IMMO locked out (is car remote start opted?)
all cars, to make 2nd key ,(if DIY allowed) one needs a good key first. (AND IS ALLOWED)_
by law and by practice.
1;check all fuseS first
2: scan the PCm to see all failures related (BAD KEY OR BAD IMMO Brains)
3: try the 2nd good key ?
4: IMMO lamp most glow in happy state, told in the users guide.
5: if FOB dead the battery inside is dead. (easy no?)

"Any new PASS-KeyĀ® III key must be programmed
before it will start your vehicle. See PASS-KeyĀ® III
on page 2-29for more information on programming
your new key
PAGE 2-30
When the PASS-KeyĀ® III system senses that someone
is using the wrong key, it shuts down the vehicle's
starter and fuel systems
. The starter will not work and
fuel will stop being delivered to the engine. Anyone
using a trial-and-error method to start the vehicle will be
discouraged because of the high number of electrical
key codes.
If the engine does not start and the security message
comes on, there may be a problem with your
theft-deterrent system. Turn the ignition off and try again.
If the engine still does not start, and the key appears to
be undamaged, try another ignition key. If the engine
still does not start with the other key, your vehicle needs
service. If your vehicle does start, the first key may be
faulty. See your dealer/retailer or a locksmith who
can service the PASS-KeyĀ® III to have a new key made.
It is possible for the PASS-KeyĀ® III decoder to learn the
transponder value of a new or replacement key. Up to
10 keys may be programmed for the vehicle.
This
procedure is for learning additional keys only. If all the
currently programmed keys are lost or do not operate,
you must see your dealer/retailer or a locksmith who
can service PASS-KeyĀ® III to have keys made and
programmed to the system.
See your dealer/retailer or a locksmith who can service
PASS-KeyĀ® III to get a new key blank that is cut
exactly as the ignition key that operates the system.
To program the new key:
1. Verify the new key has PK3 stamped on it.
2. Insert the original, already programmed key into
the ignition lock cylinder and start the engine.
If the engine will not start, see your dealer/retailer
for service.
3. After the engine has started, turn the key to
LOCK/OFF and remove the key.
For vehicles first sold in Canada, repeat Step 2
with a different, already programmed, key before
proceeding to Step 4
4. Insert the key to be programmed and turn it to
ON/RUN within 10 seconds of removing the
previous key.
The security message will turn off once the key has
been programmed. It may not be apparent that
the security message went on due to how quickly
the key is programmed.
5. Repeat Steps 1 through 4 if additional keys are to
be programmed"

What wire can i cut behind the sterio for the antitheft fuelpump cutoff

There is no wire you can cut ,doing this will make your vehicle never start .
The Personal Automotive Security System (PASS-Key II?Ā®) is standard equipment on the vehicle. The system is designed to prevent vehicle theft by disabling the engine unless an ignition key with a specific electrical resistance is used in the ignition cylinder. The PASS-Key II?Ā® system and the universal theft deterrent operate separately. The universal theft deterrent system is optional. The PASS-Key II?Ā® system includes the following components:
?ā‚¬Ā¢
The ignition key

?ā‚¬Ā¢
The ignition cylinder

?ā‚¬Ā¢
The body control module (BCM)

?ā‚¬Ā¢
The starter relay

?ā‚¬Ā¢
The powertrain control module (PCM)

Coolant sensor is activating engine light

Sorry, you'll have to get it fixed correctly.
The warning light is on because the sensor is not working.
If the sensor is unplugged, the reading to the computer is 20 degrees below zero. If the connector is jumpered, the reading is 275 degrees.
Neither temp is within spec.

1997 CADILLAC DEVILLE ENGINE CRANKS BUT WILL NOT START THE THEFT SYSTEM CODE FLASHES AND READ THE CODE TCS B1750 PASS KEY FAILURE CURRENT THE RESISTANCE OF THE KEY IS 7.5 KOHMS AND THE RESISTOR WAS CUT IN...

On the key there is a diode theat the key connects inside the cylinder lock from the lock cyclinder their is two white wires that thread down the collum to the maim collum connector.here they plug into the main harness. If this white set of wires is broken or cut anywhere or connected to ground then the security system won't let the car start. A new tumber comes with the white wires and the contacts that touch the key. I remove the new contact wire assembly from the old tumbler and install the new on that came with the new tumbler. I don't use the new tumber as I don't have a key with the diode in it thats right for the car. with the old key in the old tumbler with the new wire and contaacts all assembled the car should reconize the key and run like it used to,

I REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN LOCK AND IGNITION SWITCH CYLINDER ON MY 1992 CAMARO RS EVERYTHING TURNS ON BUT IT WON'T START IT JUST CLICKS. THE FACTORY SWITCH HAD THE KEY STAMP WITH THAT CHIP ON IT. THE...

If you do not have a pass key any more, then you will need to dissable the antitheft (pass key module) in order for the engine to turn over. From what I gather you have replaced the column with an older version, which will not allow any comm. with the module. The pass key module enables the starter circuit. See diagram.

Massage, pass key fault

there is a micro chip inside the head of the igntion key, when you put the key in the igntion the sensor inside the steering colunm will read the resistance of the micro-chip. If there is a match the engine will start. If for some reason the sensor will not read the micro chip the system will think some is stealing the car. I would try another key 1st, if this persist, the module will need to be replaced. Start with a new key, its cheaper.
You'll need to go a GM store parts departement with the old key, drivers license & registration for the dealer to cut a new key.

Saturn LS1 2000 wants to start but won't

The fab key activates the security system in the car, the ignition pass lock may need to be reset to your ignition key's. It Takes about 30 min to do. Try resetting the pass lock to read your ignition keys. 30-Minute Learn Procedure 1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF. 2. Attempt to start the engine, then release the key to ON; the vehicle will not start. 3. Observe the SECURITY tell tale light. After approximately 10 minutes, the light will turn OFF. 4. Turn OFF the ignition switch, and wait 5 seconds. 5. Repeat steps 1 through 4 - two more times - for a total of 3 cycles of 10 minutes. 3x10 = 30 minutes. The vehicle is now ready to relearn the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or passwords on the next ignition switch turn from OFF to CRANK. Important: Turn the Ignition Switch OFF. The vehicle learns the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password on the next ignition switch transition from OFF to CRANK. You must turn the ignition OFF before attempting to start the vehicle. 6. Start the engine. The vehicle has now learned the Passlock Sensor Data Code and/or password. 7. With a scan tool, clear any DTCs if needed. History DTCs will self clear after 100 ignition cycles. Without a scan tool you may have momentary starter interruptions while history clears itself. Good luck and hope this helps. The ignition keys has a resistor value for the ignition to read and after a few years the resistance may change and the Pass Lock has a had time reading it's value so you have to reset the pass lock to read the keys again.
