I have a Lenovo 0769 and my motherboard is dead, it worked for 2 years and 3 month. Now it is out of warrenty and new motherboard costs almost the same as a new laptop..
You will need to reinstall the windows operating system. You can just perform a repair install where you wont loose and of your personal files and programs but a complete format and reinstall is always best. Also if you bought the Mboard new it should have came with a driver CD, make sure you also install all the latest drivers....you should have no problems after this
to enable REAR green audio port, there needs to be jumpers between pins 5-6 and 9-10 of J2 which is towards back PCI slot area.If the jumpers are not present, the front panel audio is enabled.
Hi, There is no way to test the motherboard without connecting to cpu. You can't test the motherboard until and unless you connect it to the pc. If you want to test the display, audio, graphics you have to connect each device and see. Every motherboard has got a green color light in it. When the power is on the light will glow. Thank you.....
Geeze, after working on hardware for 27 years i love the short circut dummie. Anyway yes, it's the motherboard / yes the green light will still come on on that model and quite a few other models. Dont worry about repairing / i.e. removing components on the motherboard, it's a fruitless endevor but a great way to waste time. A motherboard for that model will cost about 100-150 bucks / easy replacement. It's actually rare for both the power supply and mother board to go out on a tower/mini tower type system. Older laptops had that type of prob. Those emachines were **** for the mostet part. On the other hand Gateway has really gone up in quality and i have been quite impressed with them in the last few years...
You may be right about the mboard but also try changing the processor or taking out the processor and try powering on withou the processor. If its the mboard then it could have been because of a power surge and thus the mboards needs to be replaced. let me know how you go. thanks

Okay, the problem here is that there is no guarantees when hottswaping motherboards. First It helps if the mboard your swap to is of the same manufacturer thus this eliminates some driver identification problems with XP. Second the socket set (as you said PGA370) must be the same. Then VGA setup must be the similar as in, if its onboard on the first mboard it must be onboard for the second mboard. Otherwise you should be fine. Another option that you did not mention is creating a second partition on the harddrive and installing XP with any other motherboard onto that pertition you created. That way you can just simply copy you information across when you are running with your new mboard (this may be your best option) . Let me know how you go. Thanks
