Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS / 1000D IS Digital Camera Logo
Anonymous Posted on Sep 23, 2010

AFTER iI REMOVED THE SOFTWARE CONVERTING RAW TO JPG I'M NOT ABLE TO RECOVER IT AFTER FOLLOWING INSTALATIONS ( The computer doesn't want to install full software and doesn't see my Canon camera after connection) I tried to remove all files connected to the word "Canon", but I thing there must be one hidden in computer's memory. What can I do ?

  • Anonymous Sep 26, 2010

As I've already replied I've tried all those ways, but without any positive result. The computer doesn't allow me to get back in time far enough to be able to find the date when everythig was working properly. I was able to gey as far as 29 June 2010 and it was not the date when EOS Capture was working.

Make sure the software is compatible with your operating system. If you just upgraded to windows 7 you should also check that you have the most current version of the Canon ZoomBrowser. Canon support is: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/eos_slr_camera_systems/eos_digital_slr_cameras/eos_rebel_xs_18_55is_kit#DriversAndSoftware
Make sure your USB drivers are also current and there are no problems with the USB drives.

Transferred photos

If you have not done so, go to the Nikon website at www.nikon.com and download the free Nikon transfer software. Install it on your computer. Once you do, you will be able to transfer both raw and jpg photos from your camera. If you are shooting all raw photos, Windows will not recognize nef file extensions without adding the proper codecs. The Nikon software lets you do this.

Hard drive does not recognize a file system

Buy a software called EASUS DATA RECOVERY WIZARD, install it on a working computer. Connect your hard drive as a slave and open the program. Use the Complete Recovery Method to recover all your files. It is usually pointless to try and recover system files. Unless you want to recover your documents and files that were there in the hard drive.

We have a Canon EOS 500D. After using it for 18 months we suddenly have a Raw notice and cannot print photos. We dont know where this has come from or to get rid of it. Advise please.

Sounds to me as if someone has set the image "Quality" to RAW files which are more for a professional or advanced amateur use. Page 70 of your owners manual will show you how to set this "Quality" to jpg. I'm going to include a screen shot of this page because it has diagrams and instructions far better then what I can explain just in type.

Also the RAW files you have must me downloaded to your computer, opened in your image software program and converted to jpg file format before you can print, e-mail or any other "normal" thing people do with jpg format.

RAW is just that the actual raw file of the image captured where as the jpg file format is the compressed version with corrections already made in camera. RAW files need correction in post processing.

I suspect you are using the Rebel's direct printing feature which can not process RAW file format, I don't think you want to print RAW as there has been not corrections.

I know this will help.

Here is the diagrams.

I'm trying to recover 155 RAW photo images from my Lexar sdhc 4gb memory card .I'v tryed 2 differant photo stores but they could not help me ...we could look at the images but not get them off the card or...

you can try this memory card recovery software called asoftech photo recovery that helped me before
1. Do not save any new file to memory card.
2. Connect your card to computer. You should see memory card shown as a drive letter (like H:) in My Computer.
3. Download recovery software, recommended one is this photo recovery (simply because i was using it and it worked)
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/
4. Install and open the photo recovery program, select your memory drive, and click 'Start' button to start scanning process which will find your deleted photos.

Hi, For arabic language support you will need to flash your phone to one that includes Arabic language. This involves 3 software instalations to your computer. Plus you need to be somewhat savvy with following software instructions. If you decide to do this please dial *#0000# on your phone and write me the RM-XXX number on the screen and then I will write you the instructions. Thank you

Raw Photos

"AW files are usually proprietary to the camera manufacturer and sometimes to the specific model of camera. That means, only the camera that takes the picture can understand the information collected on the camera sensors. That information is then translated by means of firmware (software) built into the camera and the usual result is a more user friendly format called JPEG."

Raw image format
In substance many software do not manage Raw format, this is normal. The newer photoshop CS3 can manage some Raw format , depending on the camera.

Photoshop 6 does not read Sony RAW format.
You need to export pictures from camera using jpeg, or to use a converter software if pictures are already on computer, see:

Canon 20d raw to pc

Have you ever been able to view the pictures on your pc?
Have you got a card reader that can view the card contents externaly from the camera?
I found the Canon software is quite as happy from a card reader as it is reading from the camera. (I have the next model up, 30D.)
Have you tried upgrading your software, or tried using a third party image program to read the raw files?
