Check the wiring to the starter sounds like your starting wiring is not making good contact if not test with a test light and check the fuse hope this helps

Hi, this tells me the solinoid is not working, i do'nt know if the SOLINOID is on the starter motor or on the side of the wing. if you turn the ignition key do you hear a click. if click is heard. this means the solinoid circuit for the starter is working, but the HEAVY SWITCH PART of the SOLINOID is not connecting the BATTERY to SOLINOID to the STARTER MOTOR. there is a ELETROMANECTIC coil and a very heavy (switch) in the SOLINOID. gerry

Try starting car but nothing battery old but still good changed starter relay still nothing

If the battery is old, (More than five years old), it would be a good idea to replace the battery anyway. Old batteries can still hold a full charge but when you put them under load they can be too weak to turn the starter motor. It generally takes 9v to actually turn the starter motor.
What exactly do you get when you turn the key? Do you get nothing at all, a lazy cranking effort, a single 'Click'? Getting nothing or a lazy effort suggests a bad battery. A single 'Click' suggests it could be the actual starter motor causing the issue.

6.8 litre gas engine and starter does not work just a click

Here are the three most likely probabilities.

  1. The battery(ies) are too weak to start the vehicle. Older batteries in very cold weather are even less likely to work as the cold robs them of even more power.
  2. The starter is worn out and cannot turn over the engine.
  3. The engine is locked up for some reason and the starter cannot turn the crankshaft.

2006 Ford taurus won't start, starter, altlernator, battery replaced, ignition starter switch, neutral safely switch changed, still nothing

I looked at info for your security system, it is starter motor disable. I didn't see 06 ford Taurus in my database, so I looked at 05.
Battery has a full charge and battery connections all good?
We can usually do some tests to see if starter motor will crank the engine, but, if the security is the problem, it still won't start.
You can check for applicable trouble codes? Try a different key?

you have to properly test the battery you may have 12 volts but with 3 amps there starter will not turn over if you think you have full battery put the car in neutral and try to start see what happens if nothing then starter grounded or bad connections such as ground or power wires from the battery check for starter relay or fuse before going to starter

I have a 93 pathfinder SE 4X4 automatic transmission that had full power, new starter and battery. Sometimes it will start and sometimes not. By passed starter relay by adding push button start and it started 6-8 times then nothing. I finally figured out that it was the neutral safety or inhibitor switch on the 4 wheel drive shifter. Just an idea..good luck
