Our GE Potscrubber 640 isn't cleaning the top rack items. They are neither cleaned nor rinsed. Does it have something to do with the "Rinse Dispenser" knob on the door? It's always been fully screwed in.

likely not .....the problem may be how you stack the dishes ....try doing a load with nothing on the bottom rack ....if the top rack items come clean then you may be stoping the water from reaching the top rack with the dishes on the bottom rack ....it's important to keep the center of the bottom rack free this is where the water comes from (on most models). to clean your upper rack .....have a close look at the inside of the machine to try and figure out where the water comes from ...it helps a lot to understand this ....good luck

Dishwasher repair - Bosch

Can you remove the upper spray arm (is yours under the upper rack?)-mine unscrews and then you have to wiggle it off. Run faucet water into the arm; sometimes little bits of crud get stuck in the holes that spray the water out, and this prevents a complete rinse. I just had to clear these holes myself due to same problem (I might have a different machine, though). You can do the same for the lower arm.

Scuba Gauges cleaning

"It's probably sand, rinse it well in strong running water and it should be fine. I had a compass once get sand lodged in it and prevent it's rotation, a strong rinse fixed it. Sand can only get where water travels, so if sand got there you can rinse it out with water."

Admiral DDB1501AWW Dishwasher

This worked for us - I hope it works for you. We have had problems with grit on the dishes, especially in glasses or items on the top racks. We tried: Different detergents; Heavy cycle every single load; loading different ways; rinse agents; shopping for a new freakin' machine!
After reading the total lack of satisfaction people had with almost every machine listed, and a very unsatisfactory level of hot water during a shower - I realized the core intake temperature of our water dropped significantly in the fall/winter. I went and used the "high temp wash" on some seriously soiled loads (on heavy cycle). Everything came out clean. I am back to using the normal cycle for everything, but always with the High Temp Wash. I figure the improved performance saves rerunning loads, longer cycles, and frustration - so I am fine with the added electric expense. I always use rinse agent. I use Walmart dish soap.
Good luck!

The Rinsing aid door keeps opening in my Bosch dishwaser

I believe paddy55 is correct about the rack position affecting the rinse agent door. When the top rack is moved to the higher position, the rack hits the latch on the rinse agent door, causing it to pop open.

Move the rack back to the lower position and see if the door stays closed.

Grit in dishwasher

Sounds like you have a low water fill problem or maybe a water temperature problem. The water should be at least 120 to 130 degrees Fahrenheit to start with. Gel soaps can cause a lot of problems with scum and leaving a white residue, mostly when there is not enough water in the dishwasher. After it fills there should be water almost up to the heating element. Also look for the water draining by itself.
