SOURCE: old homelite chainsaw, wont pull fuel

most of the time there is a air leak in one of the two crank shaft seals.to get to them you need to pull off the flywheel and the clutch assy.look for wet areas. that will be where the seal is letting out the oil and air.If you keep putting starting fluid in the carburator you will burn the rings, the piston and the cylinder up

SOURCE: homelite saw runs wide open(homelite ut10520)

There is a recall on the UT models, all you have to do is call the costumer service center for homelite. they will give you a number for the closest warrenty center that will adjust you throttle cable free of charge. I went through two UT 10520's before i started researching the problem.

Poulan chainsaw, I rebuilt the carb with all new everything. Now it will start with choke all the way out. Idles really high. If I push choke in, it dies instantly. The hi-lo and Idle is off I know for...

get it running on idle, adjust the idle down till it runs hairy, then adjust low speed mixture screw till you get it highest revs, then keep repeating that till you get it idling normal.rev saw up max revs, adjust high speed jet, in or out till you get max revs, then screw out one quater of a turn. That lets enough fuel thru to cool the sparkplug tip..If thats no good, redo the carbi.Check the tiny filter under the needlevalve hole.Check the needlevalve diaphragm height.recheck gaskets are right way round

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly

You are going to have to rebuild your carb and get a

GASKET & DIAPHRAGM KIT
  • TILLOTSON DG-2HL/DG-5HL
  • Fits all HL model carburetors
One of your many diaphragms or gaskets is leaking even though it is clean all it takes is a pin hole to cause havoc!

US source for the same kit:

Make sure to download this 8 page manual to help you with the carb repairs:
http://www.tillotson.ie/docs/techinfo_HL_US.pdf

Just make sure you have good fuel flow to the carb fuel inlet from the gas tank with a good rate of flow.
When you finish it will work great if you did it properly. You will for sure have to adjust the fuel mixture screws after the re-build.
Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

I did a quick search and saw nothing for a 61 carb but it does not mean it is not there. Someone at Arborists has rebuilt your carb. The hard part will be digging them out then dredging up the right memories. Good Luck. HTH Lou

I have a Poulan 2000 chainsaw. I changed to sparkplug, clean thoroughly including carborador. after cleaning the chainsaw started and than stopped. It won't start again.

If this saw has a primer make sure lines are connected properly. Check for the wire going to stop switch is not pinched and grounding out. If carb. was disassembled be sure that gaskets and diaphragms are in the right order. Diaphragm with 2 flapper valve should be closest to carb body and diaphragm with metal disk should be installed after gasket is installed against carb body. I am assuming that saw was running before this cleaning. If not remove muffler and look for vertical scratches on piston this would indicate a scored piston.

Poulan Pro 220 saw starts & runs fine when finger on throttle, will not stay at idle. Rplaced plug & same issues.

All you need to do is try to adjust the throttle idle speed or else a cheat would be to tighten the cable which means the cable will be pulling very slightly the throttle which means it will remain running when u release throttle.

My homelite super 2 chainsaw keeps flooding. it was running fine and all of a sudden its flooding. any help is welcome

Needle valve in carb. maybe hung open. Or diaphragm may be bad. You will need to remove carb. and clean and replace all worn parts. Go to homelite.com to find manual for the saw.
