I have a GE SpacesaverXL model JVM1350BW. It does not heat up. The interior light, surface light, fan, clock, keypad all work normally. When a cooking mode is chosen and START is pressed there is a clicking noise like a relay. Then it does nothing, no heating or cooking. There is not a fault code displayed. Sometimes a error of SENSOR ERROR displayed on the keypad depending on the cooking mode (minutes or preselected mode) before pressing START. Could this be as simple as one of the fuses or would that disable power to the entire unit? Is there a better way to know which sensor or part needs to be replaced so I can decide if it is worth it to do this or replace the unit?

I wouldn't worry about the sensor error right away.

Sometimes that's just caused when the door is opened before steam could be detected or steam was not detected in the maximum amount of time.

Once it's all working again, if you still get the error regularly, it may be a bad humidity sensor.

If the internal cooling fan IS running when you try to cook AND the oven is not heating, it's probably a failed secondary interlock relay on the control circuit board.

If the internal cooling fan is NOT running when you try to cook AND it's not heating, the bottom door switch is probably the culprit.

Here's is a file on checking and replacing door switches.

We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are working.

Listen to that very carefully, and listen to yours to see if the cooling fan is working.

When I say internal cooling fan, I do not mean the hood vent exhaust fan which you can turn on and off manually.

I'm instead talking about the internal fan which comes on automatically whenever you microwave.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

Microwave light stays on and unit won't heat/run

If it's not heating at all, the magnetron is to blame.

I have a GE SpacemakerXL Microwave Oven Model JVM 1350 The fan and the light works, but the microwave is not working and the screen says

There are two possibilities, one of the door switches has malfunctioned, usually caused by food partical buildup, more than likely. or there is an issue with the microprocessor control board, less likely.

Sound like a magnetron go to bad; here are the steps we took to replace it

Warning: You are not an electrician or repairman, following steps are from my experience. You should be careful while handling capacitor and other parts.

Unplug Microwave at least few hours before
Remove Microwave from above oven range by somebody holding Microwave from ground unscrew the screws from cabinet
Remove top cover of Microwave
Make sure to keep screws correctly in a place you remember what goes where
Make sure capacitor is discharged, GE manual inside Microwave says capacitor will discharge within 30 seconds once it is off. As a precaution check the voltage in capacitor to make sure there is no electricity
Remove other panels around magnetron part
You need to remove lot of connecting wires, should be careful to note down what goes where
If possible take digital photos to refer back when you put everything back together
You may need to remove transformer to easily remove and replace Magnetron. If you can't remove Magnetron easily then remove bottom panel of the Microwave and remove transformer
Now it should be easy to remove magnetron
Replace new magnetron and screw it. We had to put one outside part from old magnetron to new one because new one was missing that. Check to make sure both old and new one are exactly the same
Make sure put all wires properly back
Now put transformer back and screw it
Put capacitor panel in place and screw it
This might be a good time to test the Microwave to make sure it works fine now
Now cover the top panels and start to screw everything
Once everything assembled put the Microwave back above range put screws from top

GE Spacemaker Microwave 5 years old Model JVM1440WH01 The Clock, Fan, Interior and Exterior Surface lights work, but it does not heat the food. Over the stove model,

the magnetron may be faulty on this unit... the magnetron is what heats unit... there is also a thermal limit on this unit mounted behind the control panel and will require removing in order to check... unplug unit and remove two wires attached to limit about the size of a quarter and round in shape..check contuinity and should be closed... if it is then most likely the magnetron has failed... is a replaceable part sorta expensive and requires taking apart the cabinet and removing a few componets to get to the magnetron bolts/screws ...
www.sears.com then hit the parts direct link up at top of the screen enter your model number and will give you a parts diagram check availabilty and price on your part....
sometimes cost verses replacement is worth buying another one.... but can be fixed... most magnetrons have 5 year warranty goes by serial number of unit or installation of unit if your the original owner.... good luck to you

GE Profile Microwave Model JEM31SA, intermittent problem with keypad going dead after cooking. Have to go out and flip breaker to reset. It prompts for clock set info and functions normally again after...

You're going to have to replace the keypad module and possible the control module (do the keypad first). You can try contacting these folks: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/search.aspx?model=jem31sa%20001%20ge%20spacemaker%20microwave
And see if they have a keypad for your unit. Depending on the age of your microwave, you may be best off replacing the whole microwave.

Ge Model JVM1350BW 002 turns on when door is closed or on it's own

If "F3" is appearing on the display, then you have shorted membrane keypad.

If this is the case, the keypad is no longer available and the oven would have to be scrapped.

Otherwise, I would suspect a bad door switch or door switch mount, which are usually pretty easy to fix. See our file here.

You can find links to helpful exploded view diagrams and other part ordering help here. Enter your model number as "JVM1350BW02".

I'd recommend that your bookmark this link to your favorites.

JVM1190 wont cook

You have a blown actuator. This is the device that creates the microwaves that cook the food. The cost of one of these will be as much as a new unit.
