Infrared sensor inside the TV is damaged. Replace it.

If TV is manually turn off, the remote may not work. Have to manually start the TV then urn off with remote to turn on with remote. You might also change the batteries in remote(within ten minutes of removing b batteries to save the codes in universal remotes).

Take the remote control aparts,take some Q tips dips it in with some rubbing alchahol.Clean the remote control PCB board,putting it back together again,wait like 20 mins.Put in new batteries.The remote now should work again.If not it garbage,because it CPU chip is dead.Try website like Remotes.com to buy an exact remote to ur original remote.

If the remote is a universal remote (multifunction) check the buttons at the top of the remote if one is labbeled "TV" press that one first and then try the TV

You may need to recode the remote since you changed batteries, and the newly installed batteries are new, and installed correctly.

Batteries can be bad or installed improperly. If you know someone with a digital camera that has an lcd display, point the remote at the camera while someone is looking at the camera's image in real time. Infrared will appear as white light to the camera's CCD "eye". Cool trick.
Remember, IR is line of sight. Make sure nothing is blocking the path between the remote and the TV. Also IR remotes and fluorescent lighting doesn't mix.

You can also try to take out the batteries and push all of the buttons with the batteries out of the remote. Then put the batteries back in and push the power button on the remote. If this doesnt work press the two TV buttons at the same time and the remote should be fine.
