Remove the batter on the mother borad. But I don't suggest you do this unless you know whatr your doing. You can always go into the BIOS and the a "default" setting reset

I am wanting to reset the system password on my dell computer

click start control panel Open User Accounts in Control Panel. On the Users tab, click the name of the user whose password you want to change, and then click Reset Password. In New password and Confirm new password, type the new password, and then click OK. Notes You can change passwords only for local computer accounts, such as guest, administrator, or accounts you create for your computer. You cannot change your network logon password in User Accounts. To change your own password, press CTRL ALT DELETE and then click Change Password also if you want set a BIOS password during the boot up process you will see on the screen for a short amount of time to press a certain key to enter set up Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS scroll down to set user password or supervisor password you can change or remove your password from there also click start control panel user accounts on the users tab click the name of the computer administrator you can change the password there hope this helps you should make a note of any passwords and keep them separate to your computer incase of memory lapses

My Dell 1525 has had ongoing problems in that it wont charge. Runs fine with the cable attached but no charging. Tried charger from another Dell with same problem. When looking in bios comes up with...

Try the battery from the other Dell system. If it charges fine, then its a problem with the battery, go for a replacement. Else, try updating the BIOS once from http://ftp.us.dell.com/bios/1525_A17.EXE. If it still doesn't charge the battery, then you may have to go for a motherboard replacement. If the system is under warranty then call Dell Tech Support @ 1-800-624-9896.

Good Luck!

When the PC is turned on the light turns green for a second and then turns off. Nothing appears on tthe monitor. The monitor has an orange light steady

Since your green light comes on momentarily, you may have hope. Look in your manual or on Dell website to how to reset your BIOS chip to the default. You do this with the power off, unplugged. There is a 3 pin jumper which should now be in the normal mode. Moving the jumper to the clear mode for 30 sec. should bring the Bios to default. Should the monitor stay on, you will have to set the time and date and maybe a couple other tweeks. Good luck.

How to remove cmos/bios password ?

A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:
In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.
Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.
When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.
Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.

B. By Using Software:

I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds

Dell Inspiron 700m

I have a Dell Inspiron 5100. I've had it for about three years. One day it did the same thing, no power, no fan, nothing. I replaced the power supply with a 350 watt unit from Office Max. I spent about $40 and I'm using my Dell to send you this response.
