Remove the batter on the mother borad. But I don't suggest you do this unless you know whatr your doing. You can always go into the BIOS and the a "default" setting reset

You have to do a password reset to unlock all (advanced) BIOS features. See the service manual (link below) page 33 + 34 how to do this. Take a good look at the picture, memorize the procedure, shutdown PC, unplug from mains, remove cover, find the PSWD jumper, move jumper from 2-3 to 1-2, wait 1/2 minute ( or less), reinstall the jumper to 2-3, ......... restart and hit F2 to enter BIOS SETUP ....... link to service manual:

Unfortunately if there is a problem upgrading the BIOS and it fails, your system board that has the BIOS chip on it is toast. That means you will have ship it back to Dell or another company that can program your BIOS chip again.

If you need your BIOS password reset for your notebook you will need to call Dell tech support. They will give you a code for your notebook to reset the BIOS password.

remove the cmos battery for 30 secs at least - usually works
also try looking in your manual for mention of a cmos reset jumper,
short these 2 pins and it should reset your bios to defaults and remove any passwords
Bios master passwords are generated by Dell Tech support 800-624-9896 (there is no manual reset with a jumper like on desktop system) Call Dell, validate you are an authorized user of the system, and they'll give you the password.
