I have a vmp74 media player. it connects to my network and plays a large range of media files on my led tv. there is always a red light on the view sonic when power is connected to it. when turned on the red light goes green and it loads up. Hoever since yesterday (only a day after i got it) the red light goes to an orange light (which is not mentioned in any manual) and will not boot up. is there anyway to factory reset it? or is it just goosed.

I suspect what you're wanting to do is take the audio output from the TV and run it through your stereo system to leverage the large speakers. Correct?

I suggest using the RCA audio jacks (red and white pair) on the back of the TV. Most TV's still have these. Some are tied to a specific component, and some are general for all sound coming out of the TV. You connect this to the input RCA jacks on your stereo system.

The headphone jack on the TV could also work, but I suspect it may have a low level output. I don't understand how you say your MP3 player plays fine through the headphone jack, as that's an output, not an input. Unless there's some other jack?

Select Tools and then Options and the Network tab.
Under the Streaming Protocols section, be sure that ONLY TCP and HTTP are selected.
Select the Performance tab.
In the Connection Speed section, select Detect Connection speed (recommended).
Select the Player tab.
In the Automatic Updates section, be sure that Download Codecs Automatically is checked.
Be sure that Connect to the Internet (overrides all other commands) is checked.
Select the File Types tab.
Click the Select All button.
Click OK and totally close the player and try connecting again.
