Top oven does not heat-although bottom oven is ok.

I noticed after using the cleaning cycle that the oven still seems dirty - it usually does such a good job, that this was my first clue something was wrong. Later in the day, I realized that the top oven did not have any heat at all. The top control panel and oven light are working as well as the lower oven.

I was self cleaning the oven and in the middle of cycle is beeped with the message "over heat error" and stoped the self clean . I pushed the off button and the temperture was 505 and display said cooling...

Sometimes that can happen if the oven was quite dirty. Let it cool down. Then, see inside if there is any junk on the top/bottom/walls of the oven. If so, wipe it down a little with a damp cloth. Then, run the self-cleaning again, it will probably go all the way through.

If that doesn't work, a relay switch that controls to turn off the self-cleaning might be bad.

Good luck.

After cleaning the top half oven with a self-clean cycle the oven will not pre heat past 100 degrees. The bottom oven will heat. What might be causing the top to malfunction? The serial number is...

usually it is the thermal cut off( TCO) ,a kind of themal fuse which goes out if the temp exceeds certain limit and cuts off the power to the elemnts.it is to protect the cavity from over heating.it needs to replaced or reset depending the model. u will need a tech to fix this.

Bottom oven doesn't heat after running self-clean cycle

Usually, when an oven won't heat, it's because the bake element is burned out. The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it.
