Re: internet connection to home PC after adding netgear...
You have'nt specified whether your pc is connected to netgear or not. If yes then firstly it should be hard wired into the router to check connectivity.
Now on your PC Click start>run>type in cmd>in the command prompt screen that opens up type in ipconfig and press enter
it will display the ip address
if ip address is 192.168.0.2
and default gateway is 192.168.0.1 and still you're not able to open webpages run this command in the same command prompt screen netsh winsock reset catalog.......
You''ll be able to access webpages...
If ip address comes out to be something else get the drivers of nic card reinstalled on your PC.

I assume you connect your printer to the desktop with the USB cable.
I assume the laptop is connected to the Wifi network.
First you need to setup the printer to connect to the wireless network. Follow the printer installation instructions to do that.
Next insert the install Disc into the laptop and follow the installation instructions. Use the network installation section.
The printer has a built-in server for printing.
If UPNP is enabled on the router then you should be able to browse the printer on the network.
The netgear router installation will set up the internet connection during install. Download the Router driver from netgears website and install on the computer/s then your up and running. it appears you wireless card is seeing the router so just install the drivers and your set.
I contacted Bigpond after my whole internet collapsed due to my amature abilities in fixing the internet. >_<"
yet they fixed my internet connection by disconnecting my current (DLINK DIR-300) router from the network. hmmmm... the technician also confirmed that my current broadband modem (2WIRE 2071-A) isnt capable of supplying a shared connection to more than one computer!! she also directed me towards a modem with an inbuilt wifi router that "supposedly" is the best option right now. (2701HGV-W) I'm a bit shaky and the stupid NETGEAR adaptor problem still exists - im willing to buy the new modem if its guaranteed to abolish this problem and give me a better internet wise outlook - please any suggestions will be appreiciated =)
When you say home bases, i assume you mean desktop pc's.
If the channel you mention is the channel that the router works off eg channel 11 then all wireless adapters have to be set to channel 11, or the same channel as the router.
The reason for one disconnecting from the internet will probably be the adapter losing the signal because of obstacles like walls and doors, as if the signal gets too low then the reciever cannot connect properly with the router, hence dropping the connection.
Try the router in a different higher position or at a phone socket nearer the troubled pc.
The connection accross the network should be atleast good and at 54 MBPS, anything less may not connect properly.
The laptops will tend to have a stronger connection as most have a signal up booster built in the screen.
