Power problem I closed my Compaq F700 and opened it 10 minutes later and it shut itself down and won't power back up. Battery is good and the power cord light comes on when plugged in. Any help? Thanks...

Press the power button and if it goes on keep pressing the button until it shuts off. Then try to power it up by tapping the power button once.

How have you tested the battery? In my Acer laptop I'm on my third one in 2 years and recently got a 9 cell high capacity one that lasts 3.5 to 4 hours when my original lasted only 1 or 2 hours tops.

Compaq f700 won't power up

4 possibilities.
1 The Compaq f700 power supply is duff. How do you know it is actually working? Have you been able to test it on another system?
2 The charging circuits in the laptop have failed. Only a workshop can test this.
3 The Battery is dead. How do you know it is good if the system is not working?
4 There is a mechanical connection problem. Damaged lead/plug/socket etc. Examine and swap out to check.

Note that the system would not work if 1, 2 and 4 were the problem. (Since the system should still work of AC even without a battery). So a battery problem is the lowest probability.

My compaq is power on for 2 second and off , how to fix is thank you

You need to print this out-on someone else's computer. Hope it works for you!
Remove the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord from your Compaq Presario F700 laptop, press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to discharge any residual current inside the Compaq Presario F700 . This clears your RAM and is like a hardware reset. Replace the battery and charger/ac adapter/power cord and turn your Compaq Presario F700 laptop on.

Boot in "safe mode". As it starts up press F8, the computer ask you if you'd like to start in safe mode. Highlight "safe mode" and press enter. See if your laptop is booting up ok .

If your Compaq Presario F700 boots ok, do the following,

Try System Restore first,
Start Menu->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->System Restore. Choose the most recent date before you the encountered problem. If it doesn't work, try the next date.

If System Restore does not fix it, as a last resort, you might need to fdisk, reformat your laptop hard disk clean and reinstall OS, that usually fixes all bugs. Before going that route, try following,

Uninstall unnecessary programs and applications.

Scan with a antivirus program

Scan with a spyware/malware program

CHKDSK C:

Clean up and repair registry problems with registry repair software of your choice

If the problem persists, did you check if it could be your Compaq Presario F700 laptop power cord or power source problem? Defective or insufficient power supply might cause error messages that are misleading. Take the battery out and power on your laptop with the charger only. Make sure your Compaq Presario F700 power jack and charger plug tip are securely connected. Did you notice the power jack loose? You can find laptop power jack on ebay. Fixing and soldering the power jack requires professional skill though. The charger green/blue LED should be on. If not, replace the defective charger. Compaq Presario F700 laptop battery charger, especially its power cord/cable, lifespan is limited and does not last forever, consider buying a lifetime warranty charger online from company like www.topmic.com

T will indicate charging but it won't charge actor

If the laptop works only off the Power Cord and the batteryis not charging, then the battery is dead.

To check to make sure the Power Cord is working remove the battery and let thelatop run for 10 minutes or so.

To check to see if the battery has any charge left in it put the battery in andremove the power cord. If it won't boot or shuts down then the battery is deadand needs to be replaced if the power cord is ok.

Please wait message

The easiest solution is to unplug the AC adapter and pull the battery. This will shut off the laptop.
Once it is off let it sit about 10-20 seconds then put the battery back in and plug in the AC adapter.
You should now be able to press the power on button and it should boot up. It may give you a screen saying the last time it shutdown it was not good. Just pick to boot with last known good configuration and you will be fine.

Compaq F700 Battery live very less

Giri,
Its normal, generally it comes with 80-90 min. You can use HP Power management to optimize the use of battery. Making screen less bright will increase the power backup.

Thanks
