My kingston micro sd card has autorun.inf. Is it safe ?

Hello

OK, the autorun.inf is a file that you should not actually be able to see, as it should be hidden, but it is normal.

Have a look HERE.

But, in some cases this is a duplicate virus file, so, best is to scan this drive, and let your virus protector delete it if it is a virus.

Hope this can be of help.

Kind regards
Andrea

To remove Autorun.inf

Tools you need RegTool and AVG anti-virus.

Also here is an easy way to remove Autorun.inf manually!

click Start>Run>enter “CMD” them you will see and command window. In the command prompt, you can search for any exe.files. First we can disable “read only” and “hidden” attributes.
Enter the word in prompt.
Check C drive: key in dir c:\/a/w
2 then
attrib -s -h -r c:\autorun.inf
attrib -s -h -r c:\ ntdelect.com
You can use the same way to disable attributes of other drive such like D, E, etc.
3 OK, everything is done, we can now remove these two files.
For C drive, you can enter
del c:\autorun.inf
del c:\ntdelect.com

The same to D drive
How about kavo.exe? You need to repeat step1 and step 2 to disable attributes.
The delete command is different with them.
attrib -s -h -r c:\windows\system32\kavo.exe
del c:\windows\system32\kavo.exe

last thing you should do:
Open registry editor by entering Regedit.
Go to HKEY_LOCAL-MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

CD html presentation-hyperlinks don't work with other pc's

To create an Autorun-enabled CD-ROM, proceed as follows:
  • Create an Autorun.inf File
Autorun.inf is a text file that is located in the root folder of your application CD-ROM. It provides to the computer the name and the location of the startup program for your application that is installed when the CD-ROM is inserted. The Autorun.inf file can also contain optional information including the following:
  • The name of a file that contains an icon that represents your application's CD-ROM drive. This icon appears in Windows Explorer instead of the standard drive icon.
  • Additional commands for the shortcut menu that appears when the user right-clicks the CD-ROM icon. You can also specify the default command that runs when the user double-clicks the icon. Autorun.inf files are similar to .ini files.
  • The [autorun] section contains the default Autorun commands. All Autorun.inf files must have an [autorun] section.
  • icon: Specifies the path and the file name of an application-specific icon for the CD-ROM drive.
  • open: Specifies the path and the file name of the startup application.

Autorun.infThe following is an example of a simple Autorun.inf file. It specifies Filename.exe as the startup application. The second icon represents the CD-ROM drive instead of the standard drive icon.
[autorun]
open=Filename.exe
icon=Filename.ico
