There is no sound coming through my HDMI/DVI cable. is there any other way to get sound?

Try going into the audio setup of your PS3 to make sure you have it set to send audio down the HDMI. The PS3 allows you to send the audio down the HDMI, standard, or optical, but you have to change the settings.

Along the same lines, you can use an optical cable to run it to a receiver (or your tv if it has an optical input). Just remember to change it to the optical output.

I don't have the PS3 in front of me right now, but go to this link and it will explain it to you:

http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/settings/audiooutput.html

Thanks for reading and good luck.

How do I get my Samsung TV audio to output though my onkyo tx-sr608?

If it is a relatively new TV you should use an optical digital audio cable. These are often called "toslink" cables. Plug one end into the "digital audio out" port of your TV, and the other into a free toslink port on the receiver (there are two on the back and a third on the front of the 608).
You should then change the settings on your samsung tv to: - turn the digital audio (s/pdif) output on - allow bitstream output over s/pdif - turn the tv speaker off I am not sure which model Samsung you have, so I can't go into great detail, but I'm sure you will be able to find the relevant settings, most likely under "sound" in your system menu.

lastly, you will probably want to use the input assign page of the onkyo on-screen menu to assign whichever input you use to your TV, and change its name accordingly.

I tried to connect my emerson 227 bluetooth to my ps3. it tells me to press the start button and enter button on the device at the same time and wait until the screen changes.. well it never changes.. what...

Pairing the Headset with a Sony Playstation3 Entertainment System:

To pair your [EM-227] Bluetooth Headset with the Sony Playstation3 (PS3), go to the PS3 main menu, scroll to "Settings" and select.

Scroll to "Accessory Settings" and select.

Scroll to "Manage Bluetooth Devices" and select.

The menu will ask: "The Bluetooth device has not been registered. Do you want to register it?"

Select YES.

Put your [EM-227] Bluetooth Headset into discover mode (see X.XX of this manual for instructions on how to get the headset into discover mode).

Select "Start Scanning" from the PS3 menu.

Once the PS3 has discovered the [EM-227] Headset the screen will read "Select the Bluetooth device to register".

Select [EM-227].

The PS3 will ask for a passkey. Enter [0000] then press "OK".

Now press O (the PS3 circle button) to get back to the previous menu.

Scroll to "Audio Device Settings".

Change the "Input Device" to [EM-227].

Note: "Input Device" is the microphone, how others will hear you speak.

By default, the "Output Device" will now switch to [EM-227].

Note: "Output Device" is the audio, how you will hear the PS3 audio and others speaking.

If you would like to hear the PS3 audio and others speaking through your TV or Audio System, scroll to "Output Device" and switch to "System Default Device". If you would like to hear sound through the [EM-227] headset, then leave the "Output Device" setting on [EM-227].

To test your connection, speak into the headset and you will see the bars above the "Microphone Level" moving. If not, repeat the pairing process.

Press "OK" to confirm the new settings. You are now ready to use the [EM-227] Bluetooth Headset with your PS3 Entertainment System.

For further assistance with Bluetooth settings on your PS3 please refer to your PS3 instruction manual.

We might need to change the audio settings from Sound and Audio device properties window.

Open Control and double click on Sounds and Audio devices to access the window.

Change the audio output from analog to digital.

Make sure that HDMI audio is enabled in the sound device.

If the source device menu has adjustment for PCM frequency, set the frequency to 96khz or less than that.

My PS3 will not play sound on my Sony Bravia HDX275 surround sound system. I have the HDMI cable plugged from the PS3 to the TV. I have another HDMI cable from the receiver to the TV as well as a opitcal...

Hello,

Adjust the system's audio output settings. These settings are mainly used when the system is connected to audio devices that support digital audio output, such as AV amplifiers (receivers) for home entertainment systems.
1.
Confirm the formats supported by your audio device.
Settings vary depending on supported formats. For details, refer to the instructions supplied with the audio device.
2.
Select in_soundset.gif (Sound Settings) under in_setting.gif (Settings) in the home menu.
3.
Select [Audio Output Settings].
4.
Select the input connector on the audio device. Channel numbers and audio formats that are supported vary depending on the connector in use.

Select all output formats that are supported by the audio device in use. If [Audio Input Connector / SCART / AV MULTI] is selected in step 4, the screen for selecting audio output formats will not be displayed. If [HDMI] is selected, you can also select to automatically set the audio output format. (In this case, the HDMI device must be turned on.)

Check your settings.
You can go back to the previous screen and revise the settings by pressing the in_left_key.gif button.

Save your settings.
The audio output settings are saved on the system.
Hints
  • [Linear PCM 2 Ch.] audio is set to be output from all output connectors by default. If you change the audio output settings, audio will be output only from the connectors that were set.
  • If you change the audio output settings, the system will no longer be able to output audio from multiple output connectors at the same time. For example, if your system is connected to a TV via an HDMI cable and to an audio device via a digital optical cable and you switch to [Digital Out (Optical)] under [Audio Output Settings], audio will no longer be output from the TV. To output audio from the TV, switch the setting to [HDMI], or select in_setting.gif (Settings) > in_soundset.gif (Sound Settings) > [Audio Multi-Output] and set the option to [On].
  • If you select [Linear PCM 2 Ch. 88.2 kHz] or [Linear PCM 2 Ch. 176.4 kHz] in step 5, sound may be intermittent or may not be emitted from some audio devices.
  • When using an HDMI cable, only [Linear PCM 2 Ch.] audio will be output from PlayStation®2 and PlayStation® format software. To output Dolby Digital or DTS audio, you must connect the PS3™ system and the audio device using a digital optical cable and switch to [Digital Out (Optical)] under [Audio Output Settings].
  • If a device that is not compatible with the HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) standard is connected to the system using an HDMI cable, video and/or audio cannot be output from the system.

Hope it helped.

Changing from RF to digital on Panasonic DMR-ES20DEB

Audio? Video? input? output? Short questions are nice but vital details are helpful....
Lets assume your talking Audio output since those are the only digital settings you can change, but first a little bcakground.
RF would refer only to you video input via the tuner if thats what your referring to it should simply be a matter of changing the input (channel up/down or input up/down).
Your audio output can be changed from analog to digital and vise versa and can be chaged from the Menu(hit Menu when no DVD playing) settings under audio.

Volume control doesn't work on the enternal speaker

On some sets that have audio output jacks, the level of the audio output on the RCA jacks is fixed, and it does not change with the TV's volume control. On some sets, such as Sony, you can choose fixed or variable output. I have also seen some sets that have both fixed and variable RCA jacks on the back. With variable audio out, the audio level at the audio output jacks follows the TV's volume control. If you go into the TV's menu and navigate to the audio page, look for fixed or variable output options. If you have the owner's manual, read the section on audio output. If variable output is not an option on your model, then the level is constant and the volume will have to be adjusted with the stereo's volume control.
