Help It will play the movie sometimes. Sometimes it plays the whole movie all the way through but sometimes it will play half way through then shut all the way off.

Some movies are encoded with a protection the Disc acts as if you are tempting to copy the write protected dvd. you can get a program for free called shrink dvd that will remove the protection and copy the movie to your Pc so you can watch it.

The pladder motor that spins the dvd disc is failing, or the 5volts to the motor is flutuating, usually the whole assembly is replaced and is expensive.

Usually most DVD's play movie trailers and sometimes advertisement before the movie will play. Once the ads or trailers are done it should go to the menu screen and at that point "play" or something like that should be underlined. If it is you can press play or select on the DVD player then the movie should start : )

Check internal fuse.

I re-soldered the plugs on the board containing the convergence ic's and digital processing circuitry. The plugs feeding up to the smaller boards and the plugs connecting the two pc boards feeding power supplies to several things. It must have been broken causing the pico fuses on the power supply to blow once before. They were replaced and it continued to play until lately. It played overnight now. Playing the movie UP now! It could be due to outdated codec.

You can try to install CCCP or K-Lite Codec Pack that you can download in the link below

Make sure to remove all codec packs that you have installed before installing the codec packs.

Might be the type of movie - some of them are only able to play "G" ratings. Try this: click <play> 1234 <play> It will likely unlock the dvd that is in and will begin to play. You will have to do the 'code' each time, or there's an unlock program you can purchase.
