The head unit needs to have the power supply of the head unit turned off so your external amp can be the power item.
Its detailed in the manual but here's how.
Hold the setup button for 3+ seconds (it's the small button to the left of the 1) use the up & down button (left & right arrows) to scroll through the option until you get to "PWR-IC". press the band button to toggle it on & off. It should be set to off so your external amp does the work.

I just hooked up the same stereo and the cd doesn't put out any sound. On the screen it shows it playing. The FM works fine.

I am installing the unit and the readout says "Interrupt"?

Manual states to be sure to press the reset button when you first install and after replacing battery. Online manual at http://vault.alpine-usa.com/products/documents/OM_CDA-7894.PDF

Dual dvd car stereo no sound

Check the fuses. There's one in your car's fuse panel (usually in the footwell be the hinges of the car door) & one on the back of the head unit. While you have the head unit out checking the fuse, ensure that the power wire is still connected securely and the ground wire has a firm, clean connection to the sub dash (clean metal, no paint). If this doesn't solve the problem, the unit may well have gone belly up. You will need a new one if that's the case. If you purchase a new one, stay away from Dual. It's garbage. I know they're super affordable, but you get what you pay for with that kind of stuff. Pioneer makes really good units and there priced reasonably too. Just a suggestion... Good luck!

I have the alpine cda-7894 in my 1994 mustang. I have the mach speaker upgrade. When I play my music the sound has no depth and sounds very flat with no bass, but if i change the balance to the right or...

You have a problem with the phasing of your speakers. This will happen if on or more of the speakers are installed incorrectly. To solve this, you must check the speakers and find which one of them does not have the positive and negative connected to where it should be. When connecting speakers it is crucial that the speakers (positive and negative terminals) are all connected to the corresponding (positive and negative) speaker outputs of your head unit. Now you can enjoy your sound again.
