Upon turning the my >Gateway FPD2275W LCD monitor ON.. I see the GATEWAY splash screen but after that it goes to a BLACK SCREEN
There are several capacitors in the power supply section that go bad over a period of time. I purchased 24 of these for a customer two years ago. Over half of them have quit. All do the same as yours. Getting to the power supply takes about a half hour. ( I found the instructions on another site.) Replacing them took about 10 minutes.
I have the same problem. Can you direct me to instructions on how to get to the capacitors?
Look it up on EBAY, there are several vendors that sell all 7. When I opened mine up the 1000uf 25V was bulging. Since that was the only one radio shack had locally, I rolled the dice and got lucky. It worked and am now using my 2275w again. If I had to do it again, I would order the entire kit and replace them all.
I have the same model. I changed only one cap that was bulged about 1-1/2 years ago. The symptom was when it was turned on the gateway log would appear dimly on the screen only. To get it to turn on, I had to unplug the monitor and plug back in. Replacing the one capacitor C862 fixed the problem, but the problem came back about 2 or 3 months ago. I continued to use it for a few weeks with that problem until it died completely. Now it won't turn on at all and there's no LED on either. I opened it up and found C866 and C1 to be bulged. I tried powering it up, but still completely dead. I notied that two ceramic capacitors in the inverter circuit are overheated. They have turned brownish and the board has also turned brown around them. These are c13 and c18. The markings on both is 12J 3KV. I'm not familiar with these marking, but I'm thinking they mean 12nF+/-5% and 3kv rating. I removed both of them and measured one at 9nF and the other at 14nF. They are both outside the 5% tolerance (one higher and one lower), but I don't know if that matters. I don't recall if those 2 caps were overheated when I replaced the first cap a couple months ago. I'm thinking that I would have remembered if they were because it is very noticeable. Any help on this one would be appreciated.

Look for bad ca shown in the pictures, you should replace them in a set. http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/Gateway%20FPD2275W/ Basic LCD monitor troubleshooting guide: http://www.fixya.com/support/r6150077-basic_lcd_monitors_troubleshooting Failed TV and Monitors: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capacitor_plague

Please post back what you find.
This could be a bunch of things. Have you tried testing the monitor on a known working machine? To rule out the monitor vs your video card? and/or have you tried another known working monitor on the computer in question? This is the fastest way to determine if it is a monitor issue or a computer issue. One you determine that you can go on to further investigate the issue.
