In the adapter there are many tiny electrical components,.If any of the one goes short the adapter will stop working., Yes in some cases cleaning helps but there is a power input and output ports in the adapter. If any dust is see on that or the input port.In the input port there is a hole in the input port.Check out if any dust got collected and got stuck up in the input port.the other thing to repair is opening the adapter and checking the electrical components with meter. But instead of repairing the old adapter the cost of replacement adapter is near to $10. you can go for it.You can get the replacement adapter from the following site.Click on the link below NES-Super-Nintendo-RF-Adapter-/310228165170?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item483b0a2232#ht_1491wt_754">http://cgi.ebay.com/Official-NES-Super-Nintendo-RF-Adapter-/310228165170?cmd=ViewItem&pt=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item483b0a2232#ht_1491wt_754

Hello,

there are some factor that you will have to put in to consideration concerning the wiring connections i will like you to look in the wire connection RF or the SERIAL depending on the wire you make use of on the connection but if the wires connection are well connected and in good condition (please note some wire go bad after been use for some time then return back to it )

it then mean that the adaptor is bad which you will have to replace

then you will have to replace the adaptor with a better one from the store then make sure that new adaptor should be is same form and value with the old one be sure of that when replacing the new one

thank you and thanks for using fixya.

Welcome to Fixya
Perhaps,it is a problem with the video cable. make sure the cable ends and the ports on the tv and consle are clean and connected properly.
Try it on another TV, make sure the AV switch isn't in wrong positon, try another lead like a SCART lead if you're not already.
Try switching it to another outlit or use the 3 pegs instead of the rf switch. Or try switching it to channel 4 or 3.
The connector for the cable..clean the game-Using alcohol...
ALSO CHECK THIS vIDEO HERE
Still have HAVE PROBLEM you need to Contact vendor /Repairer....Hope you got it....Thanks for Connecting FixYa...

It sounds like you are not getting a good video signal to the TV. Let me know that cable you are using to connect it to your TV. Also let me know the make and model and I will see what we need to do to get you up and running.

If you are having trouble with your XBOX as well then it does sound like a TV setting. Let me know the make and model of the TV so I can look up the info on it for you.

HELP - 2 Super Nintendos w/ Same Problems!

Well for the old consoles to work on digital tv's you need av cables instead of using a rf switch.

No video or sound

External Speakers

Installation steps:
These steps work for Wii, Nintendo GameCube, Nintendo 64, and Super NES hookups.

Gently pull the yellow cable of the Stereo AV cable apart from the two Audio cables (red & white). Plug the yellow cable into the Video Input on the TV or VCR.
Locate an open set of Audio inputs (left & right) on your home stereo. Do NOT use inputs marked "Phono."
Plug the white cable into the Audio Left input on your home stereo. Plug the red cable into the Audio Right input on your home stereo.
Set the input select on the stereo system to match the label on the set of audio inputs. (For example, if you plugged the Audio cables into the AUX port, switch the stereo to AUX or "auxilliary."
Make sure the game is placed properly in the system.
Plug the controller(s) into the front of the Control Deck using the left most port for player one.
Plug the AC Adapter into the back of the system. Plug the other end into a wall outlet.
Turn the power on.
Turn on the TV or VCR and locate the input select. It's often called Input Select, AUX (auxilary), Line, Line In, Input, Source, Select, In, or EXT (external. Switch the input select to show the Nintendo game.
Note: If you are using a VCR, you will need to set the VCR's TV/VCR button to VCR. You can do this by putting a movie in the VCR, pressing play, then pressing stop.

The game image should now be displayed on the screen. You're ready to play.

Wii does not come on. All cables plugged in, but no lights. What is wrong?

If you plug in your Wii and the power light ISN'T RED BEFORE YOU TURN IT ON
1 Disconnect everything
2 hold the power button down for 20-30sec
3 Plug everything back in
4 The power button should be red
5 Press it
6 It should be on
7 If not you have power supply problems and need to get a new one

Thank you for your time, Good luck and I hope this works

Hi, I have a supernes, actually 2, when I turn'em on I only get a black screen with some white horizontal lines and a strange sound. there is no difference if I put a cartridge or not, I already read every...

Make sure you are using only licensed accessories with your system.

We find that video problems occur most when an unlicensed RF switch is used. Make sure the name "Nintendo" is molded onto the RF switch, as opposed to "for use with Nintendo." Unlicensed products are not fully compatible with our systems and may not work correctly.

Check all of the system connections to verify that they are firm and correct.

For AV connections
Remove the AV cables and reinsert them with a slight twisting motion

For RF connections
Make sure the channel switch on the TV and system are set to the same channel (either CH3 or CH4)

Slide the Power Switch on the Control Deck to the OFF position. Remove the Game Pak and re-load it, pressing firmly to make sure it is locked in place.

Important Note: Removing the Game Pak with the power ON will cause the Game Pak image to freeze on the screen. Press Reset to correct the problem. Always turn your system OFF before inserting or removing Game Paks.

Slide the Power Switch on the Control Deck to the ON position.
If the above troubleshooting doesn't fix the problem, see below.

I have just found my old super nintendo. Tried to set it up but im unsure how to do so. Can you give me step by step how to set it up?

Not to be rude but are you serious?
Do you have the SETUP MANUAL, it tells you how to.
If not then, follow these steps.

First, plug controllers to the front of the super nintendo.
Second, plug in ac adapter(power) to the back of the super nintendo(round hole).
Third, plug in video cable
-if it has a red, white, and yellow plug it into back of super nintendo and the front of the t.v.
-if it has a grey box with a wire coming out of it, plug it into the back of super nintendo and back of the t.v. where you will have to screw it in by twisting it to the right.

Now if its the three different colored wires, then it will be on the first video channel.
If it screws into the back of the t.v. then it will be on channel 3 or 4 depending on what the channel switch says on the grey box.

Put the game in with the picture facing you all the way in.
Now hit start and you should be good to go. If you get a black screen try taking the game out and blowing on it then putting it back in after all it is old!

And there you have it!

Wii will do everything but it won't play games.....

I had the same problem. No new games would play but the old games played fine. I clicked on the spinning disc icon (where the game should come up) and it prompted me to do an update. I accepted. Once the update was complete (took about a minute or 2) the new games worked fine.
