I recently bought an Onkyo TX SR 507 receiver and have it connected to my PS3 via HDMI and to my speakers. I have also connected the HDMI cable, as instructed by the manual i.e. connected in the HDMI 'out' on the receiver with the other end to the tv. I can get sound from all my speakers when the radio is on, when I am playing the PS3 or playing a movie from the PS3, however have no sound when watching normal tv. I have gone into my tv menu and tried to set the audio to PCM and to auto with no luck. I have reset the onkyo and still cannot get it working. I think I am missing something simple... any ideas on where I am going wrong?

Could well be the quality of your cables. if you have high end cables the consult a service agent. if you have the cables that came with the products, go and get some better ones.

YOUR PS3 DOES NOT OUT PUT TRUHD OR DTS HDMA AS STANDARD,YOU CAN GET A UPGRADE ON THE WEB FOR DTS HDMA BUT NOT FOR TRUHD.FOR BETTER SOUND AND PICTURE SELL PS3 AND BUY PANASONIC BD30.
CABLE GUY.

Unfortunately only the higher end Onkyo Reciever pass audio over HDMI for sound. 605,705,805,905 exc. Your reciever will carry Video over HDMI but you will need a digital optical cable for sound.
thanks.

Go to settings on PS3 and sound settings and set them to HDMI.
If the above did not work, try a auto reset, with unit connected. Hold the PS3 power button down and wait until you hear 2 beeps. The PS3 will automatically search your input/output channels.
