Hi I have an Onkyo

This is a common problem on onkyo receivers like the 805, 875 etc. The front panel display board has 2 faulty resistors(marked 9304 & 9310) which can blow out easily. Replacing them with some very basic soldering, resolved the issue for me.

Onkyo TX-SR875 Everything works fine, just no main unit display? Any ideas?

R9304 or R9310 are broken, if no light in display. This are 10 ohm resistor sitting on the board behind the volum knob in front.

Flashing standby light

The Flashing Standby light indicates a short in in the system, check speaker wires for shorts, if okay! the problem is the audio output semiconductors, because of the complexity you will need a professional to assess.

Need to find out how to use a diffrent speakers.

Hi,thanks for posting you Question. It all depend on how and what you want to connect to the ONKYO TX-SR805 IS TO THE BRAND Amplifier..Is it a complete set of theater speakers or just normal speaker

It's very easy to split channels for two separate speakers..

Speaker inside--You will need an RCA jack..

What you will do is to connect the RCA jack to the one input channel AUX 1 and connect another RCA jackto any other input channel you would love to use may be CD input,or TAPE input..

Then the other end of the RCA jack to the source your using to play your music..That means your connecting to different music players...

You have two ways to change the music while playing..

1. By manually changing the input function at the front of the amplifier..(switch by press, AUX, later switch to CD)..

2.You can buy a DJ Mixer that can split signals .changing it with your sliders..

Have any other Questions, feel free to ask..

Thanks and hope it helped..

My Onkyo TX-SR 876 turns

Generally speaking, an amp protects itself from heat, shorts, overloads and operator exuberance by refusing to turn on or stay on.

Overloads can be from excessive periods of high output or marginally low impedance loading by the speakers; and shorts would be wiring issues or a speaker blowing up.

You should be able to feel if it's hot. WHY is it overheating? Make sure it has sufficient ventilation on all sides and that vent holes are not blocked by dust balls. Ensure the fan (if equipped) is running as designed (some only operate on demand). Clean dust and debris from it.

If the amp comes back on after cooling, you're lucky. They only have so many self-protection cycles in their lives so continuously resetting or cycling their power without addressing the cause can do more harm than good.

If it protects immediately on a cool power up you should disconnect the speaker connections and try it 'naked'. If it comes up then diagnose which lead(s) are shorted. If it does not come up the problem is internal and should be left to an experienced and competent hands-on tech.
