Good day,
If the igniter lights up, after the first ignition cycle, but won't fire the gas valve, then the problem lies with the gas valve.
If you remove the front of the dryer, you will see the gas valve which has 2 black coils mounted with a bracket to the top of the gas valve. Unplug the wires going to the 2 coils, and remove the bracket holding the coils in place. They will lift off. Replace with new coils, and you should be fine.
The reason this happens is the coils partially short internally, causing this problem.
It is a very common issue.
When purchasing the coil kit, you can substitute the Whirlpool kit if it is cheaper. They are all the same, regardless of brand of appliance.
The problem is the dryer coils have failed. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. This video should help with this http://appliancehelponline.com/gdryertroubleshootge.html
