Good day,
If the igniter lights up, after the first ignition cycle, but won't fire the gas valve, then the problem lies with the gas valve.
If you remove the front of the dryer, you will see the gas valve which has 2 black coils mounted with a bracket to the top of the gas valve. Unplug the wires going to the 2 coils, and remove the bracket holding the coils in place. They will lift off. Replace with new coils, and you should be fine.
The reason this happens is the coils partially short internally, causing this problem.
It is a very common issue.
When purchasing the coil kit, you can substitute the Whirlpool kit if it is cheaper. They are all the same, regardless of brand of appliance.

The problem is the dryer coils have failed. They are inexpensive and easy to replace. This video should help with this http://appliancehelponline.com/gdryertroubleshootge.html

Whirlpool dryer heating sporadically?

Remove the lower front panel and turn dryer on. The ignitor should glow bright orange first. After Ignitor glows brightly the next thing will be the flame lighting as the gas valve opens with a click. All this should happen within about a minute or so.

If flame comes on but goes off quickly It's likely one of the Gas valve coils is opening a break in the coil as the coil heats up. This coil will shrink when cool and be able to run again. The coils are purchased as a kit.

If ignitor goes off and no flame comes on the coil kit is likely needed because one coil is fully broken inside its case. If flame goes on but shuts off shortly the problem is as described above and the kit is needed.

There is a flame safety assembly on the can above the burner. If the airflow is poor. the flame tip may activate that safety and turn the flame off. Or the flame switch may be open and not allow the flame to come on at all.

The Flame switch can be tested for continuity with an ohmeter but the valves may ONLY show bad with power applied and can not be tested with a meter as they will test good.. Good Luck

Stoves newhome gg700 grill flame goes out if lid is closed

I had a stove in my camper that did this. The answer was to let the flame burn for a few minutes BEFORE closing the door. I think the original problem is that there is too much gas flowing to the burner and it literally blows itself out, until you get everything heated up and working. The question, I think, is there a way to turn down the gas pressure??

I HAVE A KENMORE 80 SERIES GAS DRYER. WHEN YOU TURN IT ON IT FIRES UP AND GETS HOT. AFTER A WHILE (5-10 MIN'S) FIRE GOSE OUT AND WILL NOT COME BACK ON.

Hello,
If what happens is the flame comes on when it first starts, after the flame goes off you see the igniter glows then goes off but no flame, the coils that open the gas valve are working while thier cool but once the dryer gets running, when warm to hot the gas valve coils wont open the gas valve so when the igniter comes on and no flame the coils have failed to open gas valve and need to be replaced, all manufactures use the same coil supplied by one parts supplier, and them not opening the valve when warm is a very common occurence regardless of what brand gas dryer it is.
The part number for the coils is 279834 they could be picked up from your local appliance parts store for under $20 or online at;

Fires and runs for a few minutes then shuts off tries to re fire a few times then goes to 2 blinks=cannot sustain or detect flame.

There is a flame sensor located in the last burner that lights up. It is either not seeing flame or not getting flame to it within a certain time. Check the wire that comes from it and goes to the circuit board for a bad connection. Check any ground wire connections for a bad connection. Pull out flame rod (sensor) and polish it with a scrub pad or soft wire brush. If none of these recommendations help, replace the flame sensor. Make sure the flame travels to the last burner, if not, clean the flame tray that allows the flame to go from one burner to another.

For whirlpool duet GGW 9250 PW0 GAS DRYER How do you know if the gas solenoid are bad? I check the resistance as per manual and its within its limit. It ignites and flames come out but the flame only...

The gas valve solenoid coils work when cool that's why the resistance reading is within the limit but fail when heated. Bypass the thermostat on the burner funnel and if the flame still goes out too soon, the coils are weak and both must be replaced. The resistance reading is reliable only when the dryer does not heat at all or shall we say the flame does not go on at all and the purpose is to check the continuity of the coil.

Roper rgx5634kq2 gas dryer. Starts out lighting like it should. It runs for a minute or two then flame goes out, then after a minute it comes back on. It will do this cycle a few times and then it will...

it's not the thermal fuse, the dryer wouldn't run and the ignitor wouldn't glow.sounds like you have bad gas coils,if the dryer runs for the first 15 to 30 minutes normally and then no more flame the coils are failing, when they are bad they work until they heat up and then nothing, when they cool down they work again, common problem, also you should clean out the dryer once a year ,clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into,if your vent line is long take it off from the back of the dryer and blow it out with a leaf blower, make sure the outside vent is clear first, you can have a fire and then you can pop the thermal fuse, clean it and your clothes will dry on time, let me know what you find

Dryer starts, heat up than the goes out

Faulty gas valve coils are the typical cause of this type of "cycling". These electrical coils are right above the gas valves and when energized, these solenoids open the gas valves and permit the burner to light. If any gas valve coils are suspected of being faulty, it is recommended that both (all) be replaced at the same time. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Gas Dryer model 110-77974110

the coils on your gas valve are going out , this is why it will work at first and stop , the coils heat up and wont open the valve again after they are heated.
I thought they were some what cheaper than they are now but still not too bad. you can try this part number search on ebay for the best price I can find.
