This vehical has drum styal park brake shoes on the inside of the brake rotor so make sure the park brake isn't set and you can turn the rotor. If you can't turn the rotor you will have to look into this first if the park brake is set or sticking you won't get the rotor off if thats ok try spray with penting oil helps a little. I use a 4 or 5 lb sluge hammer and hit the rotor kinds close to the wheel studs about 5 times then hit the outer edge from the back side also works on the outerside. Don't be afread to hit hard I never broke one.

    Thanks 'Best Try',,,
Did not know about the parking brake,,
is the hole with the rubber stopper used to adjust the parking brake ?
What are the other 2 threaded holes for ?

    Thanks again for any info,,,

You are correct the whole with the rubber plug is for adjusting the park brake. The 2 threaded hole are for taking the router off. I work as an auto tech and of corse we are under preassure to get jobs done quick and smacking the rotor with a hammer is a lot faster. when using the treaded holes keep going back and forth so the rotor doesn't **** to much. When adjusting the park brake there is supose to be an air gap (no drag) Tighten park brake up till you can't or have a hard time turning roto the back off till pads don't touch set and release park brake and recheck. oh make sure rotor is all the way on and stright I put to or 3 lug nuts on (witout wheel) and just snug them.

Toyota highlander front wheel noise when turning left

Check the brake rotor backing plate to see if it is rubbing against the brake rotor, check the brake pad condition at the same time, it may be the low brake pad sensors that you are hearing.

Trying to remove and replace rear brake rotors

First, make sure your parking brake is off.
Remove the rear caliper and then the brake pad housing. In the center hub of the rotor the parking brake shoes are located. The may need to be loosen first. There is a hole between 2 of the studs you need to align at the bottom. Look in the hole with a flashlight and find the star wheel. Use a screw driver to turn the wheel up a few turns to loosen the parking brake shoes from the rotor hub.
After that there are 2 threaded holes in the rotor near the studs you put two 8mm bolts in and slowly tighten each and it will pull the rotor off the hub. They rust up pretty bad so use penetrating oil on them.
