Hi, You would need to take the back of the back seat out to get into the trunk area to release the catch this means all the back seat needs to be removed to unjam the lock. Please leave me feedback, Malcolm Campbell.

Adjusting the reversing cable may have affected the safety switch used to keep the car from starting in gear. Try adjusting that switch also.
