SOURCE: Help setting up hwr54g as an access point

Yes there is an easier way! Just setup the router as you would any normal setup. Follow the directions to set it up for the first time. What you want to do is have the put in all of your information that you need for it to communicate with your Modem. This will automatically place the router onto your network. Now the part that I believe you want is for this to be secure! Well setup either a WEP or WPA these are both encryption Protocols that will denie access to anyone other than you or someone you allow to access your network wirelessly.
You do not really have to go through all of the trouble of setting up specifics. As long as the two devices communicate the router and the modem will do the rest. I do this everyday in my daily work day! Anymore quesitons please feel free to ask!

I have this hawking HWR54G multifunction wireless router and is there any way i can reset the router settings?

There should be a reset button at the back of the router. You might need something like a paperclip to press it as it is often a tiny hole. You will need to press it for at least 30 seconds. This should reset the router to its factory defaults.

And also make sure that UPnP is Enabled

Ip address Hawking wireless G Router

plug in a pc using cat5 to one of the ports on back (not the wan port). If the router is running dhcp which is probably is, it should assign an IP to your pc. Now open your network adapter and view the status, advanced view should show the ip, subnet, gateway and dns info. The gateway is usually your router/firewall. Go to that IP using a web browser to manage. If your not getting IP's from the router, try a factory reset, if that doesn't work the unit may be faulty.

How do I reset the Hawking HWR54G to factor settings - delete passwords and security settings?

Hi,

At the back of your device next to the WAN Port (internet port) you will find a small hole with a button inside it, turn your device off then press and hold the small button in while switching on your device, keep pressing down on the button for about 5 seconds, that will reset your router to default settings.

Keep Moving Forward.

WAP connecting to another WAP

On the D-Link WAN page, change IP Address to static and give it an address about 30 away from both the Hawking and the Linksys. On the DHCP page, disable DHCP.

In a multiple router network such as yours, you can only have ONE real router. The others have to be disabled as routers. Disable thier DHCP and give them static addresses that are all at leat 10? or more from each other. Wireless should all be the same setup. The on;y exception is the SSID which can be slightly different to know which wireless you are on.

Router Not Working

OK, check which address ya on... see there are a couple of sets... there is 192.168.0.*, and 10.1.1.* ... or the like sometimes the settings get screwed up..I suggest that ya reset it up all again using the Wizard... then go to each client and run Internet connection manager to establish the connection... Think of the router as a stand alone little PC... that "hands out" the address, to the clients... work methodically thru it & hopefully ya be all good to go?

Have router dont have software need to find it

Hi,

The Hawking Wireless-G HWR54G is a standalone device, there is no software needed on your PC for the router to work. However there is an easy Setup Wizard. If you are referring to this, perhaps you can contact their tech-support here or call 888-202-3344 or email them.

Should you prefer to wing it, the HawKing site has provided online guides. Open your browser and go to the Configuration Page (192.168.1.254). Follow on screen instructions.
On another PC with Internet connection, open a browser. Below are links to pages you might need:
Connection Diagram;
Frequently asked Questions;
Should you need a manual;
In case you need a firmware update.

Remember to use LAN interface when setting the router (as shown in the connection diagram) and set your PC to an IP Address of 192.168.1.240, Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.0

Hope that this be of some help/idea. Pls post back how things turned out or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
