SOURCE: I can't find the manual for White's sewing machine with model 675

The folks at White sent me this reply to my request for a manual.

Thank you for contacting White. Unfortunately the instruction manual that you have requested is no longer in print.

We do however, have a free copy that you may download from our sister company "The Singer Sewing Company's" website.

To download your free copy of your "White" manual, please follow these steps:

1) Go to www.singerco.com
2) From the "I am looking for" drop down menu, select "Instruction Manuals".
3) To find your particular manual, enter W and then your model number (W1600) in the search box.
4) Click on "Search".

The manual is 31 pages, in pdf format.

SOURCE: PFAFF 362 Sewing Machine: The shift

I just fixed this on my pfaff 230-the problem is the needle position dial-the middle dial with the chrome lever on the right-has froze up .
remove the dial-it doesn't come off by the screwhead in the middle of the dial ,the screw you need to loosen is the one under the wider end of the part of the dial you hold-you will need a glasses screwdriver.
once it is off ,heat the exposed shaft with a heat gun while turning the shaft back and forth with pauses for dripping 3 in 1 oil on the shaft so the heat melts the hardened grease and draws the 3 in1 in to flush out the old grease and lube the shaft.
eventually you will be able to turn the shaft easily-then when it cools off replace the plastic dial.make sure your upper dial is on "0" there is a cam on it that will push down the other end of the chrome lever.
This will work-there is no plastic in the shaft and arm assembly to melt and you don't have to dissasemble from the top-that sucks.

I need the instructional manual for a White 793 model sewing machine

Singer manufactured some White sewing machines. The Singer support site, https://www.singer.com/support , has the White 793 manual listed as the W666-793. The current link to the manual is https://www.singer.com/sites/default/files/product_manual/801_white-666-793-x.pdf . Follow the directions for the Creative embroidery to set up an appropriate zigzag stitch. Just ignore the part about patterns (changing the settings every few steps). You will need to use the zigzag presser foot and needle plate. If you are having problems with the stitches skipping, check the needle point for damage (replace with a new needle)and clean the bobbin case.

I hope this helps.

Pfaff sewing machine dont get zigzag just straight.

This is possibly a broken connection type of rod or one that has came loose by a loose spring. In either case it won't change the zigzag motion. Another possibility is the zigzag increase/decrease is still at zero.

Problem with 40 old Elna Zigzag , V/NV/21, Type: 21cF347986

Um, sounds like the machine has seized from old, dry oil and it is dragging down the motor. Avoid using the machine until the issue is resolved so the motor is not damaged.

Depends what kind of oil & grease your husband used, as it could have complicated matters. Also, if the machine has been neglected for a long time, combining heat in the clean-up/lube process is sometimes very helpful. (Can't tell you the machines I've picked up that have had motor oil and grease applied!!! The old gunk needs to be cleaned out and then the appropriate lube applied.) Most machines do not use grease unless it is white lithium grease--perhaps on cams. Oil needs to be fresh, good quality sewing machine oil. I prefer liquid Tri-Flow Synthetic Lube from the hardware store. Do NOT use WD-40, 3-in-1, cooking oil, motor oil, etc. on your machine!

Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

White sewing machine model 262 serial 13800

Here's a way to download the manual:
You can download White manuals from Singer. Just go to http://www.singerco.com/accessories/manuals.html and type W in the search box. The next page will be a list of White machines with manuals available. They may not have the exact model (as in my case), but there will be a similar one.

Changing stitches on a White 1418 sewing machine...

I have a White 1418. Here's how you do it:

1. Attach the buttonhole presser foot (should have come with your machine) and place the fabric underneath.
2. Set the stitch length knob to 0, the zigzag width knob to 5, and set the needle position to center. Sew 3-5 stitches.
3.Change the stitch length to 0.5, the zigzag width to 2, and the needle position to left. Sew to the entire length of your buttonhole.
4.Set stitch length knob to 0, zigzag width knob to 5, and needle position to center and sew about 3-5 stitches
5. Set the stitch length knob to 0.5, zigzag width to 2, and set needle position to the right. Pressing the R button (reverse button), sew up to the top stitches.
6. Remove the fabric and open the button hole with a button hole cutter.

Sounds complicated, but it's really easy. I love this machine, you just have to know how to use it!
