I have a old Stanley model 1150 garage door opener. I only open it via a one off switch which I have connected to the two terminals on the back of the unit. Today it would sometimes would not open or close with the switch, but at times it would after I unplugged the power to the unit for a bit. Other than this, the old opener works fine. If it is the circut board (which I don't think is any longer available)can it be bypassed - so I can simply turn the motor on or off?

Www.brother.com/pub/ptouch-pdf/UM_ST1150.pdf Your user manual above. I guess it wouldn't hurt to short out those connections, and simply control the unit via the Power On/Off. It should work fine, that's of course, if it actually is the switch, wires are OK, and it may be the "Logic" that the switch triggers to open/close, usually it signals a micro, that this "Port" has a GND, or +Voltage on it, and it then triggers, it may not be a simple switch. But in any event if shorting it out, works, then, YES you can indeed do that and control with the Power On/Off. But first try a replacement switch, and check ALL connections, and wiring first.

Thanks for the answer. I should add, the switch I use is a simple light switch, from which I run 2 pair phone wire. (I use 2 of the wires hooked to the two terminals) Should I try using something else, like a doorbell switch?? Different wire??

Stanley garage door opener model 440. need a manual

https://www.manualslib.com/products/Stanley-U-Install-3760134.html

If you can identify the model number, it may be possible to locate a manual from 1997 using the internet with http://www.google.com

According to one of the web sites above, "Stanley stopped making garage door openers and gate operators in 1997. Spare parts can be difficult to find however original and compatible remote controls are still widely available, most of the remote controls used by Stanley were manufactured by the Linear corporation.
Stanley made garage door openers for other companies and many parts are interchangeable some of the brands they manufactured for are Vemco, U-Install, Quiet Glide, Light Maker, Home Innovative, Whistler, Popular Mechanics, and Secure Code."

My Stanley 9600 opener will only work with the remote. Pressing the button in the garage, or jumping the terminals right at the two wires on the opener does nothing. This happened after an electrical...

You have shorted out your logic board. This could of been prevented with a surge protector 900 joules or higher. Whether you repair or replace get one. Stanley went out of business but you may still be able to find replacement parts online. Thanks BB

How to reset garage door opener pad without old acess number

A Stanley garage door keypad is wall-mounted, battery-operated device that allows you to open your home's garage door electronically without having to manually lift the door or use a pull chain. The keypad uses a four-digit access code that you program after the keypad is initially installed. You can change the code, disable the keypad manually by entering a invalid code and reset the keypad if the device is not working properly. After you reset your Stanley garage door keypad, the device is ready to accept a new access code.
