Hi - I use QBPro 2009 on a PC (Pentium 4, 1.8Ghz with 1GB RAM) running Windows XP Pro (2002). I am very regularly receiving an error message, "C = 47". I have noticed some unusual occurrences including multiple 'line-item' payroll entries in my checking account and I am concerned that there is something major has happened, or is about to happen, to my file
C=47 is usually indicative of some type of minor data damage. Do to File, Utilities, Verify the data. If it fails, run the rebuild as the system will recommend. If it does not fail, more than likely you have "List Damage" which the verify will not see. In that case, running a rebuild may be the best way to resolve it as it forces the lists to reindex.

Yup this used pc has a superior processor running at 2.8 Ghz, more ram, and a better video card. Also windows 7 is a 64 bit system and it runs better even on slower pcs because its more compatible for dual core processors. Enjoy your faster pc.
I would upgrade your ram to at least 1GB of ram or more, "the higher the better" ram memory will make the computer considerabily faster. Plus a Video Graphics Card with one 1GB of ram will free up resources in your computer and increase performance.
This unit has a Pentium 4 2GHz single core processor, and does support Windows XP SP2.
The standard memory installed on this unit was 256KB RAM, in order to run XP efficently you will need to upgrade the RAM. I suggest upgrading RAM to the maximum amount allowed of 2 GB RAM.
To upgrade the RAM to 2 GB you will need 2 modules of 1GB PC2100 184 pin DIMM ECC
each.
you may have incompatible ram. You can try running Memtest on the application that will test the PC ablility to read and write to all the channel and sectors of memory. Also did you try both slots?
You can configure your boot setup from your bios screen (for dell, either F11 or F12) then set up your optical drive as your 1st priority then, save settings. After that, you need to insert your windows XP cd in order for it to boot.
inform me of what happened after you have done this.
What kind of windows you wanted to install? Compaq d5 are pentium 4 computers with maverage of 1gb of ram I believe. I would say install XP on it. Vista will do but will be slow. The link will be your guide in installing XP.
