When tank is below 1/2 full the car is hard to start and when driving it seems to lose power. My check engine light does not come on.

the problem maybe a problem with fuel pickup at 1/2 tank, if the line has blockage, the filter is clocked up, the leveling or device that keeps track of fuel level is defective, there issue with the floater, the part that suppose to float has or full of fuel and when it gets to 1/2 tank, the floater full of fuel and sinks like your out of gas.
i think most likely clogged fuel filter in the fuel tank if your car has this type of system.
if not the fuel filter most of the time its near intake of the injectors, underneath the drivers seat under the car.
or by the inlet and outlet of the fuel tank.

Engine won't run wthen fuel tank is 1/2 full

Your fuel sensor that's in your tank may be broken, and may read 1/2 when really your empty. Could be the fuel pick up tube in the tank could be hung up somewhere and not on the bottom where it should be

Just got my 2000 VW New Beetle with 3/4 tank of gas. Drove it 36 miles and its below 1/2 tank. Could it be the gas that they put in? Or something wrong with the car itself?

On just about every vehicle I have ever seen, the fuel gauge will move faster from 1/2 to 1/4 (I never let a tank run past 1/4. Bad for the fuel pump) than from full to 3/4 or 3/4 to 1/2.
Do a mileage check. Fill the tank until the pump stops, reset your trip or note your odometer miles. Dive a few days or a number of miles. Fill the tank again until the pump stops and not the amont it took to fill. Note the number of miles you put on and do the math.

Pontiac grand am stalling

believe me the motor in your car has spark plugs. unless the engine is a deisel which i highly doubt...you definitely have a fuel problem, or more likely a gas guage problem.where at a 1/4 tank it actually is running on fumes... have it checked at a full service garage..good luck..

Car stopped running after about a mile of getting gas, didn't start back up. Auto mechanics say the gas looks yellow with a blue tint to it

You may have mistakingly put in deisel fuel.If this is the case then the tank needs to be drained and replaced with gas.It will start hard and then smoke some but it not hurt the engine unless it has gotten down in your oil pan.Be sure to pull the oil dipstick and check to see if it is over full before starting. If it is change the oil and the oil filter.[Hope i'm wrong]

Runs good with fuel tank full,1/4 tank or less runs poorly

sounds like you have alot of trash in the tank and when you are down to a 1/4 tank it begins to pick it all up. You should drain tank completly rinse with gas again then drain, continue process untill clean clear gas comes out. It is easier if you drop the tank down.

My Truck is stalling out at stop and go situations.

check th fuel filter - does this happen when below 1/4 tank of gas? there is a filter in there too. a clogged filter will be worse at acceleration - if it is at 1/4 tank or less when this occurs - try filling up and see if that helps - when you drop below 1/4 tank you will **** up trash from the bottom of the tank! hope this helps

Car won't start

Your fuel pump is sticking and not pumping, this is common if you run the fuel down to less than 1/4 full, the fuel pump needs the gas to cool itself, below a 1/4 tank the pump is not getting cooled and after repeatably running low on fuel it overheats and fails. Running the car near 1/2 tank extends the pump life to many years more than running tank below a 1/4 full..
