I just installed a new ECB-3500. It works fine on two other laptops I have, a Dell Inspiron and an HP Pavillion. However, my Lenovo 3000 N100 running XP-SP3 won't connect. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing my wireless network adapter three of four times. I can connect to a Aiport unit I also have running and to an old Linksys. Any suggestions?
Connect your Lenovo to the ECB with a standard Ethernet cable. Assure yourself that it can talk to the internet in this configuration. If it works, it will rule out DNS and DHCP issues and will point to a wireless-only issue.
Temporarily turn off encryption on your router and see if your Lenovo can connect. If it does, turn on WEP encryption only. If that also works, go back to WPA. Wherever the process breaks down, it will tell you where your problem lies.
Testimonial: "Good idea, except that the ECB-3500 only has one ethernet port. I can't connect to it via cable to my laptop and to the internet at the same time. But I will try turning off encryption and see then follow the other steps you suggested. Thanks"
