I need to download software for use with my vista program, i have the disc for windows, how do i access this

Put the disc in your CD drive and it should run by itself - otherwise click on the CD drive and the programs should appear...otherwise utilise a windows based pc in an internet shop and save your application to a data stick and transfer it that way

Nikon CoolPix P80 Transfer software does not activate.

I had a similar problem. I uploaded my Nikon transfer program with no problem, and first time had no problem loading photos. Second time the transfer prompter did not come up on the screen. My manual said something about having a fully charged battery. I tried re-charging my camera battery, and tried again. It worked! The program came up and my photos uploaded.

I cannot find my cd-rom that goes to my vivtar 4100 camera ..in order to downoad the cd-rom onto my new computer

I will assume you are on a Windows machine. Anything 2000, XP, or Vista will automatically recognize the camera. It will show up as a new drive in "My Computer".

Being a professional photographer, I have purchased a card reader and transfer photos this way. It's faster, doesn't tie up my camera, and will work with ANY operating system and computer.

If this helps you, please rate FIXYA, thanks.

C-150 OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

You need to install the correct software on your computer. They are usually called drivers. Here is a link to the Canon Rebel Xt page from Canon with all sorts of goodies you can download. The most important section to get things going for you is the drivers. Select your OS from the drop down list, download and install. If you don't have drivers your PC or Mac doesnt recognize the fine piece of hardware... your camera. Hit me up if you're still stuck.

Downloading photos from Canon 400D direct to Canons photo editing programmes on new windows Vista computer.

There are two ways to solve this problem. I am assuming you are simply clicking on the pictures and choosing "edit" or double clicking on the pictures and they are opening in "Vista picture editing"
The first way to overcome this is by opening the desired program first (in this case canon's photo editor) and then choose open and find the desired photos.
The other way is to set the file type association in vista so that RAW programs open with the canon program see below for step by step:
1. Click Start
2. Click default programs on the black bar
3. Click Associate a file type or protocol with a program
4. Find the file types you want to open automatically in your canon editing program (RAW .jpg etc)
5. Click once at the top of the page click change program
6. A new window will open, if it does not list the correct program click browse at the bottom of the window and find your editor in it's folder.
7. Select the desired program by double clicking
8. Click OK
9. Click close
10. Test the new file association by double clicking a RAW file or one of the other file types and see if it loads into the correct program.

The final (and this is simply my plug for open source programs) solution would be to try something like GIMP (it is a photo editing suite developed under linux but adapted for windows) you can search for it on google.

If you are having trouble with any of these steps please post a comment and I will try and add some clarification.
Hope this helps

I know of no issue, but find that USB issues abound. Try another port and motherboard drivers. Bob
