Fender frontman 15b will not power up.

Hello, have a fender frontman 15 b fuse is good, but will not run. Is there a typical part failure to look for. No diodes appear bad, nor any low ohm resistors open, transformer appears good, but it just won't go on.

Hi...

There's a power output IC ( circuit) mounted to a small heatsink inside.
These are known to go bad...something like TDA 3020 on the part maybe?
It has 5 pins

You can get them at digikey.com

or

Play mac through Fender Frontman amp

Simple: connect the headphones out (3.5mm jack) to the input jack of your fender (6.3 jack). By doing this you will loose one channel so you better generate a mono signal inside your computer before. Electrically this is no problem, nothing will be damaged. Turn the gain and volume knobs down and apply a signal from your Mac. Gently increase gain and volume. Et voila wonderful mono sound through a guitar amp

Can i use the pre out straight into a line in on a powered mixer

You should be able to SAFELY IF both the mixer and the Fender are powered from the same receptacle or power conditioning module. Keep the cable short <10 feet OR convert to balanced lines for long runs and then of course run power alongside the run so the units are powered from the same receptacle.

Can i go straight out of the pre out on my fender frontman into a powered mixer pa system

yes,, Pre means before powered or amplified ,, so yes you can do this to a powered mixer, just be sure that the power is off before making any connections,, without the ground of the rca cable touching , the blast to the speakers can invert the cone !!

I have a Fender Frontman 15R. It doesn't work at all. No sound. I read reviews about it and none say that it does this. Is it worth fixing and what might be the common problem? Thanks, Aileen

The power amp chip has probably blown. It is a TDA2050 cost about $3. They don't even use thermal grease on these to help conduction to heat sink. Make sure you do use thermal grease when replacing. Also be careful of pluggin anything OTHER than headphones in the headphone jack. It can result in blowing the amp chip.

Will a MP3/iPod/CD player play through a Fender Frontman 65 or 212 "Power In" input jack?

The power amp input jack takes "line level" input BUT is monaural (single channel). The output of an ipod is Stereo. Hence you would have to "mix" the two channels before connecting to the Fender. Mixing does NOT mean just tying the two channels together. A minimu thing would be a passive resistive mixer consisting of a resistor from each of the IPOD channels to the common point going to the input of the Fender. Remember if you plug into the Fender power amp input you DISCONNECT the preamp and other circuits and would ONLY hear the IPOD input.

I bought my fender frontman 15 about 5 months ago, and yesterday i was playing it and it just stoped to work. Now the amp wont turn on... what can i do?

On the back of the amp, where the power cord plugs in, there is a cover that holds a 500 milliamp fuse. Check that.
