I have a Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W30 and my lens was stuck after a trip to the beach. As you turn on the camera, gently tap the bottom of the camera on a hard surface (i.e. a hard cover book). You could also use an air-duster spray to blow out any grains/dust around the lens.
THIS CAMERA IS **** WHO EVER MADE I didnt even drop mine n the lens is stuck n i payed heaps for it n accpect it to last long ive only got it a month ago :(
Knocking the camera sounds like it works but may create another problem. I have had this problem with p-100 , p-200 and now the w50, I have found a small drop, of wd40 placed on both sides ,two opposing sides,of the lens ring where it extends from the body will work also. Don't spray, its a bit too hard to control amount deposited. Use a toothpick or a stick to dip and then drop the oil.
Lightly hit your camera in you palm a few times. I has the same problem with my DSC-W55 and it works now!

the lens is stuck how do I get the lens to return
I have the same problem and have heard that banging the camera around will help get it back into working shape. That didn't work for me.
Probably going to have to get a new camera.
Didn't know that these were disposable digital cameras.
