I HAVE AN EI SYSTEMS 4411 LAPTOP, THE SCREEN APPEARS BLANK AS IF IT DOESNT WORK. EVERTYTHING ELSE WORKS AS IF IT SHOULD. I HAVE HAD IT DIAGNOSED AS THE MOTHERBOARD, BUT HOW CAN I CHECK IT MYSELF? SO I CAN BE SURE ITS NOT JUST THE SCREEN THATS FAULTY!!!

Find a friend with an external monitor and connect the laptop to it. On your keyboard will be a combination of the fn key and one of the f keys above that transfers the signal to the external monitor. If you get a fine picture there, you'll know you can only have one of 3 problems.
1. Your screen inverter has shorted out
2. Your backlight has burned out insode the LCD
3. The LCD itself has failed.

You can make your choices from there. If you get NO picture on the external screen, you'll know the video chip on the motherboard has failed.
