I've had a Magellan Maestro 3225 for about a year or so (bought new from Costco). Over the past several months, when I turn the unit on and program a destination, the unit still seems to think it is in the last location I was in when I turned the unit off (after I "cancelled" the old destination). It may take up to an hour before the unit "realizes" it's new location. It also seems to "lose" it's place on ocassion. It's almost as if it not connecting with satellites. This happens in both major cities and in rural areas. Thanks for your help in correcting these issues....they have gotten worse over time.

There are two batteries inside the unit. One is the main power and the other is a small coin cell usually a BR2032 worth maybe ~$1 When this small battery goes the unit gets somewhat senile and forgets where it is. So it has to download all of the sattelite data and figure it out which can take up to an hour. The small battery is used to keep the memory and setting alive.

Your problem is finding a shop to replace it or sending it into Magellan. If you go to Magellans website and call your local support number they can give you the cost for them to do it. They also have a refurishment program where you pay a set fee and they send you a new or refurbished unit.
