I had a viper remote starter (model 5301) installed one week ago. The one-way remote works fine but the 2-way will not start the car. The 2-way will lock and unlock the doors but when I press the start button the remote sounds an error beep and the red function light comes on. What am I doing wrong?

Doctor C, I to have suffered the trial and tribulations of the viper car alarm experience and am happy to pass on my knowledge. I found this answer online after googling "viper valet mode" "The LED is solid now, correct? This means the unit is in Valet mode. To get out of it, turn the key to the "on" position then back off, and just press your black program button hidden under the dash. The installer should have shown you where they installed the black program button." Good luck Scott Good Luck

Whoever hooked up your system did not hook up the factory alarm disarm and arm wires. Your car thinks it is being stolen as a result of this. You need to get a wire diagram of your car and hook up the proper wires.

sounds like the remots have lost two way communication. try to disconnect the windsheild antenna.try remotes again after pluging antenna back in.

is it possible that the unit is in valet mode?
Call the place that installed it, they should fix it for free
1. check the receiver unit in that is installed in the auto and see if you have the correct connection to ground and 12volt + you may have them switched and the signal from the transmitter is giving an error to say that it is receiving an incorrect signal back.
